Hey
I'm curious, how many of you have your own video collection on your pc? I'm not talking about cockhero videos but regular videos from sites like metart, digitaldesire or similar. We are in the internet age where everything is online so theoretically there's no need to have anything downloaded. So I'm curious how common is it to hoard/collect videos today? If you could pls vote for science I'm doing some research thanks!

Been collecting porn since forever... aint gonna stop now

As of last count - 10 seconds ago - I have 1711 videos in my stash;

- 193 CHs (including yours, ferdinand21!)
- 355 PMVs
- ...and all the rest are the ever-growing, decades old custom collection

"Why?" - you asked...

Because:

- Funscripts: Every single CH and PMV has a funscript that I use during my Quest/Edge2 combo sessions; some of them custom-built with FunscriptDancer, since there was no funscript ever made for them
- Privacy: I want to practice the hobby without any of the IT behemoths knowing what I like and why. All my collection has been built up gradually, over VPN-ed connections. I use Linux since way before it was famous, and know how to stay under the radar.
- My own tags: I use tmsu and have a completely tagged collection, with the tags that *I* am interested in
- I play the videos with Milovana/monsieur_so's Python script, from a network isolated user; and my VR Helmet is connecting to a network-isolated VLAN, where an SBC serves the entire collection over minidlnad.

Well, you did say you were doing research... so I had to flex If there's enough interest in the setup, I can write up a guide - but it would not be for the faint of heart. Lots of technical details - LUKS-encrypted drives the SBC serves the collection from, tags for the entire collection via tmsu, networking and isolation...

Suffice to say I belong in the old guard; convenience never won over privacy.

happy to hear you got also my creations haha! and seems like you're a real poweruser! btw the reason im asking about this is that im working on a project and wanted to gauge how many people would actually be able to use it/benefit from it. it requires to have one's own stash of videos

I have a small collection of about 70 videos, mostly CH but I have some JOI, PMV and 2-3 regular porn vids. This stash varied in size and videos over the years because I found myself downloading and deleting a bunch of them over and over again ( mostly because of my fear of addiction). Now I just leave them on my backup harddrive to collect dust and once or twice a month I find myself maybe adding something new that I like to it, pureley for archival purposes. Many good productions are lost over the years, and if they are still out there they are probably in a low resolution format or edited and cut. I've lost many scenes like that, so I think i'ts better to sacrifice a couple of gigabytes of storage to preserve something from the internet that you truly like ( that applies to anything: music, games, roms, not just porn).

I think I forgot to calibrate the funscript first, resulting in too much vibration intensity and... a happy accident.

it's an app im developing and i would like to do a closed beta hopefully soon. but it's windows only atm ;/.. basically: create your own unique dreamscape cockhero on the fly. give it your video collection so ideally all digitaldesire/metart/playboyplus/babes/whatever sofctore producer + your music tracks, hit play and you have a dreamscape level quality cockhero generated, always different :) i figured it's possible to automate the whole process. even texts and voiceovers included, always unique lol ... tbh it's a massive undertaking but i think i got something there. and later it could have different modes so it's not only dreamscape but different types of cockheros with different styles etc

Why Windows only, though? If you write it - or even vibe-code it, these days - in e.g. Python, it would work on all platforms. It's true that very few people use Linux, but there's many that use Apple devices. Writing it in something portable like Python would work on all platforms, even most Android phones these days.

No pressure, though - it's a lovely idea. Wish I could help with the beta test, but I have ditched Windows more than a decade ago, and never looked back.

it is in python, but there are a lot of dependencies and other things around it that would have to be ported. but it's doable and would like to do it eventually too. but for closed beta i will need to first make it work on windows where I started. same for macOS i'd love to support it too eventually for sure

that's a serious collection! tho the pattern emerges that people tend to have cockhero videos and not the original "raw material" videos out of which the cockhero videos are made of hmm. anyway i think im gonna create another thread where im gonna ask if there would be some possible willing betatesters to help. tho a collection of softcore original videos would be needed for them to have.

I have some, but remove them every time I cross a border and/or customs. Because most of them violate copyright law or have illegal material.

I consider this to be a strange take. If someone is streaming it, it's likely to not be there sometime in the future. If it's paid for, the producer's website might go out of business and if it's not paid for, it's subject to a takedown. If you pay for something, I have no idea why you wouldn't want to store the content locally. Even the biggest outfits like 'Amazon instant video', now renamed Prime Video has had people who PAID money to "buy" TV shows or movies and then later on they are unable to watch that content. ..not to mention situations where you literally can't find a movie or TV show online at all.

If you can have a physical or downloaded copy of something you want to keep, why wouldn't you? It used to feel like if there was something on the Internet, it would be there forever, but it seems like every decade that goes by, it's proving that if you WANT something, it's likely to find a way of disappearing or being unobtainable in some way.
An example of this: There was once a video of a girl and a spanking machine, her legs were restrained so she could only stand in one spot, and she was handcuffed to a separate part of the machine and the part of the machine that she was handcuffed to ran up and down and every time it was in the down position(almost a doggystyle sort of pose) she would get spanked by the spanking machine and then the machine would make her stand up and then lean back down again repeatedly. That source is now gone, its website has disappeared, and it was one of my favorite porn videos because it was one of the first I watched and thought was amazing and in a decade's worth of searching for it, I literally can't find it. So if there's something I like, I do what I can to keep it.

100% agree. After all the various site purges, and even YouTube cracking down hard on try-on videos, I find it shocking that people don't download videos and (of course) make backups.
