I can confirm that there were equipment problems, and settings problems.
The equipment I repaired :>
I started up as a purist again, all default settings and config. Fairly quickly I discovered that I wanted to start at a much higher volume for the game ie (65-95), with the sound output meter on, I played the calibrations and found that 100% sound out was only about 50% up the meter with the computer on 100% volume.
I did a test by setting 99 start 99 target(on my volume mixer just now and got 50% from device sound, and 50% with calibration set to (99), and 45% with warm-up sound (99)), personally i like to see the devices sound more like 85+. from other discussions about the 2b vs the 312 I believe the louder volume will only lower everyone start point and give them more range to grow.
i choose to run at 65-95, and noticed that the settings won't accept 70-100
also noticed the test audio +10 will exceed 100% and won't play above 100
session 1 and 2 were a good warmup
sessions 3 and on were seriously good, excellent file choices and so on.
i like the orientation nurse, and miss the larger section of her undressing, perhaps put it back in somewhere and have her let your hands loose to adjust the settings a bit higher since so you can't get used to things. also a whole scene with here would be nice. Also gives your a 10th session. maybe after 2 before 3 have her catch Cassandra and have a little fun of her own, while fixing the settings up.
i did jump out and in after 5 and do 5 again right away, since that is the most intense session and found it easy to get back the volume that dropped out with a little tweak on my box
final conclusions
- I think slightly louder files to begin with might be useful, or if a "master" volume is in the script bump it up(+30%)
- Tune output 100% and calibration (user low) with the same file, different volumes for consistancy.
- bug in dev, audio testing, vol+10 (>100 shouldn't be possible)
- ET-312 users definately run 65-95 on settings
- more of orientation nurse
- no worries about volumes in dev/party mode
