To me the CHs that have highest replayability and therefore become most memorable are the ones with simple beat patterns and no over-the-top editing, but that also show that there was work and thought put into them. By that I mean that there are no music and beat sync errors, black frames and similar. Basically a solid video where it's clear that it took effort to complete and it wasn't rushed.

Sorry to hear that man, but get a WD 4TB external drive and back up every week or so going forward. I've survived multiple main computer crashes that way. I actually have two external drive backups in case one of those dies too...

Sorry for the disk crash, laogai. :\'-( I'm with chfluxfan on the importance of a good backup strategy, whatever we do with computers. There may be a way to regain some data depending on the disk damage. Let me know if interested, PM or here.

If your video is too fat, there's a solution!
Spoiler: show
The generated output of your video editor may be bloated, too big for not any significant benefit. One thing you can do is use HANDBRAKE with the H.264 (x264), RF18 Constant Quality and Web Optimized / Fast Start options, all other options by default. You'd be surprised how smaller the video becomes, without any impact to the quality.

Interesting for further details about the process.

So many projects to kill, so little time. :-)

They break too! But in the meantime, they are FAST! :-D

What I did in the past with surprising success is:
  1. To have low expectation from the start.
  2. Plug the disk on a working computer, either directly or through USB using an enclosure device.
  3. Use a file recovery software like PC Inspector (pcinspector.de this one is free) to copy files still accessible
  4. Another possibility is to low level copy from the bad disk to a new disk of the same size. I've done this over two days one time, and luckily, it worked. A possibility is the 'dd' command under UN*X. I've used a free software, but it looks like it's no longer free so not recommending it specifically.
