Re: Video guides on how to make your own Cock Hero movie
So, I've caught the creation bug and am slogging my way through this very steep learning curve of video editing, beat making, transitions, and text effects generation. I am in the process of making Cock Hero: Screwed Hard. The damn beat meter itself is my sticking point (an essential part IMHO).
I am, to say the least, very picky about what is in a good CH, ie audible beat sound that is well matched, good music (a bad song choice will bore me), beat meters, text cues (color coded is nice touch), breaks (but not to long 20-30sec is good), and of course video selection. I am not exceptionally concerned about when scene cuts occur, unless they get really odd, but I will say that Awesome-X appears to be a true master of matching cuts to the music (I've tried to take a lot of cues from his style so credit where it is due). I'll also point out that Brewster has very helpful tutorials on You Tube and in the forum, so credit to him as well.
So, I look forward to putting out my first offering. I have the title, end credits, and break scenes done (only final text tweaking after the product is done is needed). I used these to train me in video editing, transitions, and text effects. Also, just as a way to learn the various software programs I am using (more on those in a second). I am at the point now where I really can crank out a round in just a few hours (although my time and internet access is very limited), this includes about an hour for video editing, another for beat creation (I drive 11hrs a day so I listen to my songs over and over until I have the natural beat pattern ingrained in my steering wheel), beat track creation and matching, and then a lot more time to satisfy my own OCD. My video cuts won't be perfect to the music, I gave myself some leeway there, but I am trying to hit the really obvious points in the song.
Here are my questions:
1. Beat Meter- I must have a beat meter, I think this is what really makes a CH! However, there is NO way I am paying for After Effects, just not going to happen economically (and with a program of this price point, the NSA, and the company behind it I am very uncomfortable using a crack). Has anyone found a free program that can create this effect? My own extensive searching of the web has produced nothing, but perhaps I am not using the proper search terms. Brewster generously offers to make your beat meter for you, but I would really like to learn and do this on my own.
2. Videos- I believe it was AndyP way back on the 1st page of this post that said to stay away from the pay area of sites when using clips. Again, for something I am going to publish, I took this to heart. Hence, while I am a user of Empornium, I shy away from using stuff I can get there and instead scour the Tube sites for high quality 720HD vids, downloading them, viewing them, then clipping and publishing them as a test to see if they still look good on my computer (I can't play 1080HD's on my laptop it is just not up to the task). If the clips don't muster up, they are trashed. Has anyone, who maybe using stuff from Empornium, run into any problems with the clips they use? Or, am I making a mountain out of a mole hill?
3. Music- Again, the whole use license free issue. However, that stuff is, frankly, shit. There are plenty of CH's out there using mainstream music, Robin Thicke comes immediately to mind ty again Awesome-X! Has anyone experienced any blow back from using mainstream music? We all know the traditional music industry has gone to shit and there is simply no way to prevent us from getting it for nothing, and I think they've given up on stopping it (remember Napster?). Otherwise, why allow it on You Tube? For some reason, this one thing I AM OK with, I know hypocritical.
Real quick, the software I am using (all free, I'll post links in a reply if you want them but you can just Google machine them)
Beat Counter: BPM Counter by Abyssmedia
Beat Maker: Hammerhead (yeah yeah Fruity Loops is supposed to be so much better but it is incomprehensible!)
Beat Track Matching: Audacity
Video Editing/Cutting/Effects: AVS4You I have found this to be very intuitive. The free version puts a water mark on, of a sorts, in the 1st minute and again at the 4min, or is it 3min, mark. You can actually work around this (put a blank black picture in for that period but you'll need to use a 2nd cutter to remove it after publishing so much more work). At $30 usd for the program, and a ton of included really useful programs, I'll probably buy the license just to make life easier. For some reason, while a very fine program with great You Tube tutorials, when I use the completely free VSDC the published video quality is just shit so I've given up on it, even after endless tweaking of its output parameters. AVS is giving me top quality right off the shelf.
Beat Bar: I am fucked. But, I won't give up, I want to make it myself but as stated After Effects is NOT an option.
If anyone is interested, I'll post, after I figure out how to, or send you my Title scene. I have it where I want it, except for actual star and music credit (I just threw in stuff so I could learn the process) as retrofitting it in is simple. 720p, 46MB, 1:18 in length. It's raw, haven't re-encoded to H.264 or whatever yet, more research for me to do.
Sorry for the long post, if I should move this to it's own post let me know, and thanks for any help!

Re: Video guides on how to make your own Cock Hero movie
Thanks for the info Awesome-X! The use of markers in editing is something I was just getting into exploring and now will look deeper into it. Also, the Fair Use doctrine here in the states is something else I was learning about. I should think its use has become rather broad since the advent of You Tube and similar sites, otherwise I simply don't see how they would survive. I want to believe CH videos would fall under the parody terms in fair use. As for source videos, there are tube sites that allow you to download directly from them, I stick with those rather than using rippers like Ant (although I am not entirely against them but don't use them in any paid areas). Music isn't a big deal. What I am going to use I do own, if not yet. I find it easier to begin by searching through You Tube, seeing if a particular song will work, creating the piece, and then purchasing the song and re-inserting it. I certainly think we shouldn't be stealing someone's hard work, and songs are so inexpensive. Sadly, again the beat bar. I believe you're right. This is such an advanced effect I don't see anyway to duplicate it without the power of After Effects. So, I guess I'll have to drop back 10 and punt by asking for help there when the time comes. Thanks again to you, and everyone here for all of their hard work.

Re: Video guides on how to make your own Cock Hero movie
best thread in the history of the internet.
having said that, I'm still not likely to ever finish a CH video.
A. don't have the patience
B. worried copyright infringement
C. I don't listen to hip-hop.
But still, thanks for this thread and the youtube videos

I'm aware that this thread is really old, but I have used your tutorials before and I found them really useful, unfortunately I have noticed that they are made private now. Is there any possibility of seeing them again?
