If this isn't the right place, please relocate.
I was just reading a bit when I came across this post elsewhere on Milvana, since I wanted to ask (technical) details on this, and didn't want to derail the existing thread, I figured I'd start a new thread to discuss just this.
I'm just curious, I did some reading and searching, but didn't find much to answer the "Why?" question.wangchungass wrote:<snip> I use uTorrent for downloading but make sure you disable DHT and Peer exchange and set encryption.
That is, Why should DHT and Peer exchange be disabled.
Best I figured out so far:
DHT - Disable, as there is tracking information being passed around, so disable this to protect yourself a bit (?? probably incorrect).
Peer Exchange - Enable for slight better performance and reduce reliance on the central tracker. (Why would you disable this, it sounds good?)
I'm into computers professionally, but just not too familiar with these Torrents nowadays, so please, enlighten me!! I wish to understand!
Thanks!
