Alot of authors would agree with this.
Firstly, you should not just automatically vote a 1 on a tease because there is a typo or a bug...chances are the author missed that and more than likely will fix it within 2-3 hrs. I mean seriously you act like Bad Company 2 didn't have bugs when it first came out. Seriously that's just retarded.
Secondly, if you don't take the time to make a damn tease for the community than you have no reason to be judgmental and complain about a couple of fucking errors that can be fixed within 2-3 hrs, I mean you act like you got shit to do and can't wait for the fixed version.
Thirdly, make a post about it telling the author whats wrong before you vote, that's what the feedback thread is for moron.
Fourthly, if you don't like how the first 5 pages on a tease is don't give it a one rating and exit, just exit...I mean if your not gonna take the time to go through the tease then don't fucking rate it, cause the author took the time to make it and it should be rated by people who take the time to do the tease not, "OMG THE FIRST TWO PAGES SUCKED! 1 STAR RATING!
Fifthly, if you don't make an effort for this community then don't expect to get a positive feedback in return when you talk shit to them for an honest mistake.
Sixtly, just Shut The Fuck Up!

Re: This is going into The Art of Websteasing for many reaso
I don't really post but in response to some of these points (incidentally I looked at your most recent tease for a few pages and disliked it. I didn't however vote on it.
1. Typo's or bugs ruin the flow and can be very jarring. Yes you can never guarantee when you post a tease that it will be perfect in this regard, but too many of them is very off putting.
2. Why does not making a tease mean someones opinion is worthless? I imagine you can't make a PC or build a car but that doesn't stop you complaining about them when there are flaws ni design or build. Its the same here, if someones criticism is baseless and without reason then its not something to worry over, if there's actual evidence behind what they're saying then don't dismiss it just because they haven't written a tease.
3. Votes are each persons opinions, there's no reason why people should come to the feedback thread before voting. Feedback is nice to give, but its hardly mandatory.
4. I agree that rating based off a few pages and leaving isn't perfect. On the other hand, if a tease looks terrible, do you think people should be forced to skip through all the pages + possible timers just to give it a justified low rating?
5. You got negative feedback for the exact reason you'll likely get negative posts in this thread, your attitude is exceptionally aggressive and unhelpful. Like you say yourself in this point "don't expect positive feedback in return when you talk shit to them", isn't that exactly what you're doing after not hearing good things?
6. Yeah, read point 5...
I am not out to get you or piss you off or discourage you from doing teases if you enjoy doing them. Neither is (or is it are?) 99% of the people here. But what I will say which I think some others will agree with is...
1. If you don't already, proofread your text and do the tease yourself. The more times you go over it, the better it'll be.
2. Drop the attitude, proclaiming your tease will be TOTM nominee will never go down well. Why would you say this? Getting angry and swearing at others when they point out errors will not go down well either. Calming down and not arguing with invalid posts (such as UR TESE SUX), but discussing what's wrong with people who point the problems out will help you enormously.
It's 100% up to you how you respond to this, I hope you take the positive road and produce some great teases in the future, but it's your choice.

wtf danny really so you support cock knocks who don make an effort for this community to talks hit about people who actually participate?
all I'm saying is, if you don't make teases then don't fucking bitch and complain when people take the time to do one fuck up with typos and shit.
Don't rate teases until you finish them, if there is a bug come back later on and finish it when its fixed vefore rating that's really fucked up.

I'll number your points to make it easier.
1) I disagree
2) I disagree
The reason I disagree with you in 1) and 2) is the rating system is there to give valuable feedback to people who create them but more importantly to people who watch them so that the bad ones can be filtered out.
3) I disagree
If it's fucked up then it needs to get a bad rating so that nobody else wastes time on it.
You just don't get it do you? You think you can argue people into liking your tease. There are teases that get 4+ out there so the system isn't broken.

Re: This is going into The Art of Websteasing for many reaso
Haggard,
I feel your pain it takes a lot of work to write a tease
My pet Peave is Most do not actually DO the tease!'just skim through and vote based on thier opions
Second I almost ALWAYS have typos and I have Yet to publish a flashtease without at least One bug no matter how much I edit
I always miss some. Dylexia is my excuse but usually is wanting to published as soon as I finish, After two or three weeks of work, I want it Done!
The number of people who actually comment Helpfully in forums is...
Wait does ANYone do this?
like does anyone say: I liked your tease but did you notice this Typo?
I think that often teases are rated based on the model used and if the person does not like the model then it is rated low.
about 30% rate poor on typos, apparnelty theyr all english teachers or OCD about spelin
(typos on Purpoise)
don't let it stop you writing Haggard
I usually use My own rating system and often totally ignore how my own teases are rated.
I note that often (not alawys) people who hate typos often have not tried to publish a tease
neither one of the previous comments were written by authors.
If a tease is average it should get 3 stars
if it has typos maybe a 2 rating
Only the stupid One page teases actually deserve a One star rating
don't let it stop you from writting

Not sure why this is even an issue, both my post and the one below were trying to be constructive and not just hating on Haggard. Instead it feels like you're adopting a "Well you haven't done any better so you can't say anything, if thats the case I guess you'd prefer a restriction on people not being able to post in the forum without writing a tease?SexualChoc wrote:neither one of the previous comments were written by authors
Yeah I don't post much, because I don't like arguing. Even when I try to be reasonable people get their undies in a twist and miss the point.
I personally have thought about writing teases before, but frankly I don't particularly enjoy writing/typing very much. Also if I ever were to do so, I'm pretty sure I'd not release a tease if it didn't meet a standard I'd set for myself.
Anyway back to lurking I go....

1. You have no business telling people how they can or can't rate a tease.Alot of authors would agree with this.

2. The opinions of people who haven't written any teases are just as important as the opinions of those that have written teases.
3. It's a bit ridiculous to expect people to go through a tease and post feedback on it on the forums before they rate it.
4. How much time you spent on the tease has nothing to do with what people reading it think it should be rated. They are going based on how they feel about what they read. I can understand that you spent a lot of time on it and aren't happy about people not thinking as highly of it as you do. Berating people and calling them names isn't the way to handle it though.
5. Teases aren't the only way to make an effort for the community.
6. Milovana believes in freedom of speech, so whether you like it or not everyone is entitled to express their opinions on things.

Re: This is going into The Art of Websteasing for many reaso
It seems you are unhappy with the ratings people have given to your teases? The way you are expressing that unhappiness is not helping your cause. I would only say that given the fact that this site has a rating system, then people are free to rate teases at whatever level they like.Haggard316 wrote:wtf danny really so you support cock knocks who don make an effort for this community to talks hit about people who actually participate?

Quick comment on point #2
Actually creating, posting a tease is much harder than it seems.
To me it is fair to value the opinion of someone who
"has been there and done that" more highly.

That still doesn't make it right for him to badger, belittle, call names and tell people that haven't written teases to STFU and that their opinion doesn't matter. Everyone has the same standing when it comes to rating teases, whether they have written a tease of their own or not.

This is falacious reasoning. A person may not have done activity or art form X, but it does not invalidate their opinion of a particular example of said activity or artform, nor should it give it less weight.Kendoll wrote:Quick comment on point #2

To expand on this (instead of editing in because that's how I roll), if a persons teases are getting low ratings every time, it should be a sign to examine their teases constructions to see *why* they are getting such low reviews, and not a sign to attack the reviewers for not being nice enough.

Re: This is going into The Art of Websteasing for many reaso
You don't have to write teases to be informed on what is or isn't a good tease.
