so, i often use the chatroom, and the only time it has been busy over the last month or so is when Kristina said that she was going to be in the room. I've now noticed that since then there have been a few more females on the site, and that many of the people who post in the forums i've never seen in chat!

Just thought i'd remind the ol' timers and the new members that there is a live chat area of this site, and that it can be a great tool for any dom/me out there (as most of the chat roomies are often sub's).

I use the Chat Room a lot and it's users vary in quantity wildly.

However I have notice that since recent changes.
When anyone first enters the room all they see is a blank public page, then most seem to leave directly ' assuming I suppose that nothing is going on, since the pencils no longer wiggle there is no indication that any active chat is occurring public or private .

Just thought to bring this to others attention.
What is the solution I am not sure perhaps if we have enough ideas put forward thing may change.

One extremely annoying and often embarrassing flaw is if you are involved in a whisper message and one of the members you had either whispered to or just directed your chat to,
Leaves you are dropped into public chat with no warning whatsoever.

This is something that I feel should/must be attended to .

Remember keep quiet and it usually does not get attended to.

Last time I checked it made no difference whether the whisper box was ticked or not, whispered messages were publically visible; only "whispered message" was added to the tag.

I have checked and only the whisperer and the whiperee can see the message

The whisper function of the chat works flawlessly, every time I use it ... now, as to the issue of keeping "private" conversations "private" ... there's a feature in chat called "private" messaging ...

Folks, I can only make some basic tweaks to the features and appearance, I cannot edit the basic functionality of the chatroom ... it's software, just like any other ... there are options to change, but I can't re-code each individual feature. And I can't fix the "human" factor ... sometimes you simply have to educate yourselves on how to use the features properly, rather than assuming it's a flaw in the design scheme. To this end, I'll begin work on a "help" file for the chat features.

Indy, if I may, I would like to address something, because I think at least on my part that I assumed les was talking about something else and my issue still remains unaddressed. *soft smile*

There are two types of private conversations, that I know of. The extreme private, where the separate box pops up. That privacy seems to remain in tack, no matter what goes on the room.

It's the other feature, the "whisper" feature where I see a problem.

If I am talking to Master in that whisper mode and let's say les exits the room. The box unchecks in the whisper box and reverts back to "all users", just like it does when you have someones name in the user list pulled up, speaking to them, publicly, and when someone exits, then their name changes back to all users again.

That's what is frustrating to me. I don't know if the program or code can be changed or not......just thought I would state my specific frustration and perhaps you addressed it, but I didn't realize it. *smile*

As for the pencil thingy....yep, I miss it...but I totally get it, cause I would sit there and try and figure out who was talking to whom....I know, I know....baaaaad Shell! *laughing*

You're quite right Shell, and unfortunately, that's a default in the programming for the chat software itself ... cannot be changed by us. Sorry for the inconvenience.

OK work arounds

Dear shell
You are a person who directs all conversations so "Whisper Drop out" will be frequent.

If you wish to whisper to master,
So you can keep an eye on the rest of the room.
You will need to log out and back in again so The Doctor is the only member listed.

To Indy
If you wish to know who is chatting privately look to see who is available but not posting.
The same thing of being busy or away selected will prevent this the same as when pencils wiggled.
I liked pencils because they wiggle in real time and allow a comment to be completed rather than replying part way.

Yes you have mentioned to me but I am not fully convinced by your argument.
As specific cases are not necessarily the norm and the entry is on a public page and not any private information.
If others are of the same opinion they can add to my voice.
I have found so often in life that it is complaints that are voiced and rarely people agreeing.


If you wish to maintain a log of the chat room sign in and stay logged on then the log will remain for your entire session,
if you log out but stay on chat page your log is kept but not while you are out side the room.


An additional pain is that I like to change the sound settings and visual theme of the room
But these need to be reset every new log on.

You made shell giggle never a bad thing in my book.
As well as proving that you have not deserted us completely.
