Added a lot more then I need to i guess, just adding context. instead of saying "friend wanted to buy lingerie with me"

So recently I drove my friend to the mall so she could return some clothes b/c she's been out of a job and needed to save on corners, after returning the skirt, they only gave her store credit, and I wasnt really doing anything for the day so I figured she could at least pick out something to feel good. We went straight to the lingerie section to pick something out. B/c she has a boyfriend I made a quick joke about not knowing how it would look, and waited outside, I never thought about it till today, is shopping for lingerie something you do while in the "friend zone" or did I miss something subtle.

Sometimes I wonder b/c she makes odd statements, like we've talked about previous relationship woes, and I told her about my first girlfriend who really went overboard as a controlling person. My friend told me that I really should stand up for myself and not get walked over, and i told her that I loved that she was strong willed, she just went too far with it. Recently my friend told me shes having issues with her boyfriend because "I'm too dominant for him, but I don't ask too much, I'm just stubborn about what *I* want."

I'm pretty sure I'm in the friend zone, and she's venting, but maybe this is why I'm still single :P

I've always read shopping for intimates as a sign that she wants to show it off to you and be physical. 3 times I've had girls who are friends do this, I've had sex with 2 of them afterward, ate out the 3rd.

Effective communication is the key to any personal relationship. (And that goes double for sexual relationships.)

Talk to this girl, openly and honestly, and see if she's interested in you.

If she is, I can't imagine that she won't let you know.
