content is blocked?

Post by niceguy »

Is anyone else getting "This content is blocked. Contact the site owner to fix the issue" when they try to open Flash teases?

A similar issue was reported recently by another user: viewtopic.php?p=369300

I assume you are opening EOS teases, or flash teases in EOS, because flash is not supported anymore.

I had that problem for the longest time. I assumed it was something different the site was doing.

Well, I had been using Kaspersky's Anti-virus/Protection and when the US said they could not operate within the US, I had to change my AV protection. And just like that I no longer had any issue with content being blocked here on Milovana.

So, I have to think it was something set too strict in my security protocols, that evidently is not set that tight now.

Now, some states are doing their best to block access to what they consider porn and not let you connect. If that's what's causing your issue, then the fix is easy... I use NordVPN and with that I connect via a portal in some place like Colombia. They don't care and it bypasses all the stuff the US is trying to restrict. It's very easy to turn off or on depending on your browsing needs at the moment.

Stuff like this is always some out of control anti virus software. Never install any anti virus browser software. Browser manufacturers do everything possible to keep their software safe, these anti virus extensions just provide an additional attack surface and cause errors by blocking stuff that does not need to be blocked. EOS is easily affected because it has a quite complicated structure, parts of EOS are loaded from a different domain to isolate teases (containing javascript code by authors) from the rest of the site. And this mixture of different security domains probably is what trips these anti virus tools up.

Personally, I would not recommend to use any anti virus software anyway. Windows ships already with an anti virus software which is good enough. And anti virus software embeds itself deeply into the operating system which carries the risk of adding other security issues as well.

If you want to improve your safety when browsing, install ublock origin ad blocker. It blocks nothing on milovana as there is nothing to block. But ads have often been used to spread malware. (The FBI recommends this as well: https://www.ic3.gov/PSA/2022/PSA221221)

That's most likely not the issue here and as milovana is using https would result in different error messages. But most of the time content blocking like that is done via DNS. You can set your home router or your browser to use a different DNS Server or even DNS over HTTPS. Google and Cloudflare DNS works well. I'm not from the US, but even though they are US companies they don't seem to do any blocking. I guess, the blocking you're talking about happens by the states and is done on the ISP-level by their DNS servers. If you don't trust google or cloudflare, there are other options.
