I think that is a very nice way of looking at orgasm control and while it is not always the way it is practiced I think it should be.

I'd add something on top of that. I think edging and teasing is one of the things that actually brings the sub pleasure apart from the normal submitting kind of pleasure. Even though used as a punishment (denial (and/or edging)) it is much more than that for me. It really differs from like regular punishments like spanking or similar since it's not only a like thing you live through in the moment but also something you look forward to in the future. The anticipation of getting an orgasm eventually, of being freed from all that lust that build up. Also like the lust itself is something partly pleasurable I'd say.
