[Poll] Do you support the creation of a Cock Hero Library on archive.org?

I was planning on creating an archive of all known Cock Hero videos on archive.org, and I would greatly appreciate the community's input regarding whether I should do this or not. This is not meant to be a replacement for book_guy's Mega Sharing Zones. It would serve merely as an additional source to obtain Cock Hero videos from, especially older ones whose download links are dead.

If you have reservations and/or questions about anything in relation to this, let me know, preferably before you vote. I'll run this poll for 30 days and make my decision based upon the resulting majority.

EDIT: If you are in support, please let me know what format the files should be uploaded in:

• Encrypted Zip: Every video, along with its associated files, would be packed in an encrypted zip that would be able to be decrypted with a master key entitled "zip_extraction_key.txt". This method might help improve the longevity of the library.

• Standard Zip: Every video would be packed in an unencrypted zip for organization of included files (because some CHs come with txt and pdf files). This method is less protective of the library.

• Raw Files: Every video would be uploaded to the archive as it came (avi, mp4, mkv, wmv, etc...) and the included files would be added to a folder along with the associated video. This method provides the least amount of protection to the library, and could easily cause videos to be taken down.

My advice is DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME on that one.

The Internet Archive respects the intellectual property rights and other proprietary rights of others. The Internet Archive may, in appropriate circumstances and at its discretion, remove certain content or disable access to content that appears to infringe the copyright or other intellectual property rights of others.

And yet, Mega has been the status quo for Cock Hero file transferring. I see many files get uploaded to archive.org that clearly violate their terms of service, but have never been taken down. Some examples have been up for multiple years, too.

A common complaint I see about Mega is their enforcement of data quotas. On the Internet Archive, no such thing exists.

What if (and I hope it never ever happens) book_guy's Mega Sharing Zone gets DMCA'd and removed for violating Mega's TOS? Would all of those Cock Hero productions then be lost to time? My argument to that is the more the merrier when it comes to archiving these works.

You're absolutely right about that. I was tinkering about with uploading test files to the Internet Archive, and the transfer rate was pretty slow. It would take a considerable amount of time to upload the larger Cock Hero files.

Are you referring to the time Milovana's hard drive crashed and the site was down for a bit? I remember that occurring, but I don't remember all of the details. I was lurking around these forums since 2016 until I decided to make my account.

I'm not sure what you mean by "'knowledge' base", but when you say "'offsite' backups", it makes me think that there are people with a large collection of Cock Heros on their own hard drives/backups, which is very good. I also have a gigaton of Cock Heros backed up locally; the only problem with that is that it's not publicly accessible, and no one would know that I have them unless I either stated it outright or someone asked me about it.

That's why I feel it is important to have more places available to download these files.

I understand that torrents are also a solution, but they have their own issues. The older the public ones become, the less likely it is that someone is seeding. The private ones will probably be around forever, but not everyone has access to them.

I don't have any input on using "archive.org" specifically as a site to store the videos on. But I can offer advice for preventing DMCA issues. Throw out the idea of using anything that doesn't require the user to validate themselves (e.g. standard zips, raw files, etc). Although they are easier to deal with and a nice convince, they make it easier to flag. By using encrypted zips you're requiring someone to go out of their way in order to access the file, you're decreasing the chance of getting it accessed by a bot. This was the exact reason captcha was created.

As a side note, I've seen the development of algorithms designed to scan common video formats for watermarks of a company (typically a logo in a bottom/top corner) and flag them. In time DMCA will only be harder to fight. So even if it's not a problem at this moment, I recommend future proofing it to save work in the long run.

I have a HDD with every Cock Hero (even the ones I don't like) I've been able to get over the years. So something like this wouldn't really benefit me. However, in spirit of sharing with the community, I'd be glad to provide whatever you don't already have in your collection (if any) to upload if you decide to go through with it.

The reason I chose archive.org is because other infringing content has already been uploaded there, and has remained there to this day. Some content in particular consists of Nintendo roms and isos, along with many other game company IPs. Nintendo is known to be incredibly protective of its IP, so I don't understand how they could've turned a blind eye to it, or why it hasn't been removed in all this time.

That was my thinking on this subject entirely. My preference is to upload encrypted zips of these files. The only thing I worry about going the encrypted route is, what if the Internet Archive finds them to be particularly suspicious as a result. They aren't able to verify the contents of the zips at upload time, so they might suspect the contents to be potentially deleterious and/or illegal.

That's unfortunate. I advocate for the reformation of copyright laws, as they currently stand, to allow the modification and distribution of content for non-commercial purposes, granted that the content is not a derivative work (and by derivative, I mean a near 1:1 copy). The chances of that becoming reality are slim to none, so in the meantime, we need to do what must be done to circumvent such practices.

Wow! That's very generous of you! There are some Cock Heros which I don't have, particularly very old ones. I need some time to go through what I do and don't have, so I'll update this post at a later time with that info (or would you prefer a PM?). Thanks again for your offer!

My thoughts on Pornhub, and alternatives:

As an aside, Pornhub is becoming increasingly difficult to upload Cock Heros to (is Spankbang any better?). Some are even flagged immediately for takedown due to bot detection. Has anyone considered uploading their works to a decentralized video platform, such as Bitchute, as a solution to this? Admittedly, the quality will take a hit, but at least the video won't be removed from there.

Actually, upon investigation, they do have a section prohibiting the uploading of copyright-infringing content! But why? They're a decentralized service. I saw something about advertising in their page on monetization, so I'm thinking maybe that's why (even though it doesn't apply to XXX). It makes me wonder if they actually enforce that policy, because there's definitely infringing content on Bitchute. Strange.

The site was down for most of a week with no explanation (because it was unexpected that the site was down).

The Archive isn't meant to be a Wild West backwater for hosting all content of questionable legality. I don't know how they'd react to a load of large archive (ZIP) files with passwords and a bunch of thumbnails of T&A and lord knows what else! I've been surprised by some of the stuff found on there but I can only assume copyrights have expired on them. I doubt there are any Nintendo ROMs on there for example but I know you can find a load of other old games, some of which are still for sale online.

You're right. It won't be easy, but I at least think it's worth a try and I'm willing to take up the task. I was even thinking of upping the ante and uploading every revision of every CH. That may eventually prove to be insurmountable, however.

If the revision is small enough, or barely different from a previous version, the file size can be greatly reduced by using a patching tool, such as xdelta. The author would render the revised version, generate a patch/delta file from the differences between the two versions, and share the patch file with the community. Then, the user would apply the patch file to the original version, and the revised version is output.

I'm using the HD CH Downloads thread as an identification resource for most CHs. It hasn't been updated in a year and I haven't been keeping track of the most recent CHs, but most of the newer ones are likely to still have working links. As for the ones that were uploaded to tube sites only, I download them sometimes. Other times, they're gone before I even get to watch them. As a result, it's likely that some of those are lost forever. My main priorities lie with archiving the ones found on Milovana.

Yes. I've expressed my concerns with that.

There's only going to be one extraction password. Every zip uploaded there would be extracted with it. They allow all types of content to be uploaded there, including porn. I understand that you aren't supposed to upload material which contain clips that are currently under copyright, but I don't really care about that. I'm not uploading raw footage, I'm uploading Cock Heros, which I interpret to be an art form in its own right. Ultimately, my beliefs don't matter, but I'll practice them regardless.

There are definitely Nintendo roms on the Internet Archive. As a matter of fact, every known Nintendo rom with every known revision in every region for their older consoles is there. I'm not going to link to them, so I can only give you my word, my apologies.
