Leaving Milovana
Leaving Milovana
A recent conflict has arisen between myself and another member of our fair community. After several tries, and much heartache on my part, the conflict seems unable to be resolved, despite the monumental efforts of Groovymonkey, and several other users. I appreciate all of the kind thoughts, and words, but continuing to participate in this site no longer brings me the happiness I once felt here. I am therefore leaving Milovana, effective as soon as can be arranged. I am truly sorry for causing such a ripple in our quiet little pond, and am sorry to have disturbed everyone elses tranquility. Thank you all for fond memories, great conversations, and interesting games. I leave you with one, final thought.

I am sorry this occurred. I hope a little time between you and the other individual will heal the rift.
I wish you the best, and I am sorry you're choosing to leave.

Please don't use anybody's sexuality as an insult, havemercy.havemercy wrote:This is...

I think we all know in what context havemercy used the word gay, in no way was it used as an insult. Gay is the word the younger generation have adopted to replace lame, in much the same way that homosexuals adopted it to describe themselves.
quote from Oxford English Dictionary:
gay
• adjective (gayer, gayest) 1 (especially of a man) homosexual. 2 relating to homosexuals. 3 dated light-hearted and carefree. 4 dated brightly coloured; showy.
• noun a homosexual person, especially a man.
— DERIVATIVES gayness noun.
— USAGE Gay is now a standard term for ‘homosexual’, and is the term preferred by homosexual men to describe themselves. As a result, it is now very difficult to use gay in its earlier meanings ‘carefree’ or ‘bright and showy’ without arousing a sense of double entendre. Gay in its modern sense typically refers to men, lesbian being the standard term for homosexual women.
Please don't take offence, just stating a point.

Re: Leaving Milovana
Duke, 'gay' was definitely meant as an insult in this case. The post was not intended to say "this is homosexual." It was meant to say 'this is bad' and substituting 'bad' with 'gay' is very insulting.
I am bisexual, and easily offended. Please do not use terms of sexuality in a derogatory sense.
I am now drawing a line under this discussion. We do Kesabev a disservice by discussing this here. I hope you don't think me pushy or rude, but this is really not the place.

So can we PLEASE stay on topic?

Tira demands it. And the Princess' affection couldn't hurt either. Well, it probably can.

Miss Tira --
While I hope you would reconsider, I can understand your situation and will wish you the very best. Not everyone is as apparently-rude as whomever you had the tiff with, but rest assured some of us do appreciate your presence and participation here. Folks like you make this venue special not just as a source of T&D fun, but discussions, participations, and general interaction as part of what makes a community a 'community.'
It would be great to see you stay, but if you do move on, I wish you the best of luck in the future.

Re: Leaving Milovana
I agree with that. I think everyone more or less agrees with that. I don't think anyone misunderstood your intent.havemercy wrote:Gee, get with the times peeps. duke_no_cum knew what I'm on out. Gay is a much used word these days and is used lame, pathetic, this sucks and so on.
But there's an implication you've probably never recognized. Please consider that perpetuating the link between homosexuality and lame/pathetic/sucks does a disservice to homosexual people.
It's like recycling... it's not your fault there's a problem, and you can only do so much... but please at least stop helping to dig the hole. Nobody's asking you to join a cause or contribute to the Human Rights Campaign; people are just asking you to please not use gay/straight/bi/etc in a derogatory sense here in the way that you (probably unwittingly) did.

i dont know whats more silly the first part of your post or the people defending the use of a common word after. the only part i agree with is staying on topic but converstaion normaly wander's
if your offended hard crap, get over it and grow up. noone means offence by using the word gay its not what it means anyway (its means happy) just like "bad" in the 80's did not mean unsatifacory!
im sick of all this nanny state crap, this whole post after the gay comment has been............. GAY!
Kesbabev good luck mate but theres a part of me that thinks you should harden up as well disagreements happen they are good and bad they make the world go round coz they are part of life. dont run away when you hit conflict. stand your ground state your case and stand proud, you cant get on with every one.
