Polling the dear reader

Post by kesbabev »

Question to all out there that enjoy the webteases. What do you think makes a better tease, longer, well written narrative, or shorter paragraphs, less narrative, ect. The more feedback the better! Thanks everyone!

I'd like to hear the results of this too. I'm concerned that the narrative in my teases may be too long and wordy.

It is an interesting question! The key is well written. As an example, Ms Tira may have many words to each screen, but i would not call the narative 'wordy' because the content is interesting!

I'm a fan of short and concise as well as long and 'entertaining'! :)

I don't believe either choice necessarily makes for a better tease than the other, I think it really comes down to how an individual tease works for an individual reader. Every tease, no matter it's style, content or length will have its share of people who love it, people who hate it, and everything in between. At the end of the day, only ratings form a somewhat clear picture of what works for the most people, but I personally have found teases I thought were amazing in the 3 range, as I'm sure most have.

I don't believe there's a format that will work universally across the board for everyone.

Miss Tira, both of your teases have scores of 4.3, and each tease has gone through the scrutiny of 100+ votes. I would argue the public thinks your teases are just great the way they are, as these are outstanding scores.

I only posted so I could get compliments!

In truth the only reason my pages are long is that I can never find enough pictures of one model to accomodate all the stuff I want to do to the reader.

Enough about me, guys. If the key is well-written teases, what makes a tease well-written?

I find it all depends on the content. A short paragraph that says "stroke for 30 minutes" is not going to hold my attention for the duration, while on the flip side an extremely long laundry list of tasks attached to a single picture is not much better. I'd say that the key is to keep the reader engaged, and the pacing is not really relevant. If you start to look at the tease as erotica with the occasional image attached, expectations of text-per-page don't make a lot of sense -- the story will hold your attention even if the image doesn't change. But then, I like reading, this might not be the case universally.

Of course the comments made here are right. Especially that there is no universal answer some like one thing others like the opposite.

For me, many teases are to wordy or even text driven. I prefer it paced a little faster. Not that I am suggesting the 2 word things either. Those feel like they have had no thought. Just like if you are doing any activity, you don't want it to feel shortcutted but not have it drag out either.

I especially think it makes since for the tease text to get longer after it gets going. If the 1st page takes acrolling way down to read it, I probably am not into it yet so I get bored. After it gets going is a different story.

+ don't be fooled by the lenght of the page either. A list doesn't take long. Or a few short paragraphs is nice. Its just that a noval is not what I am here for.

Anyway, all the comments made here are right on. And anything you like, is best cause others will to. Thank You so much, for working on something & then wanting to make it even better

Glad to be getting so much feedback! Thanks to everyone who has posted here. To the authors, I've read your teases, and have been impressed by all. Your unique writing style is great! You each have helped inspire my own works.

Miss Tira, as I am sure you are aware, I am currently collaborating on a series with The Edge. Once our project is complete, I would be most interested to work on a project with you, if you are interested in a joint effort . . .?

Thanks again for all the wonderful feedback! Keep it coming!

That sounds like fun, Kesabev, and I've enjoyed your stuff, particularly the Breaking You series, but I think I'll keep to myself.

Miss Tira, although I am dissapointed, I respect your individuality, and wish you all the best! Your work is truly awe inspiring (it inspires other things as well!), please keep up the wonderful work. And thank you for the kind words about mine, as well. I'm glad you enjoyed my first series, and hope that this joint effort lives up to all expectations as well.

JP, I apologize for the length of some of the writings I have done. In retrospect, I understand where you are coming from. I design all of my teases on a 23" widescreen monitor, which gives me lots of extra viewing room. I understand that not all equipment is build equally (no pun intended, I promise), and will try to keep that in mind in the future.

To everyone else, I say, relax, kick back, and enjoy the ride! We have lots more planned!

Just kidding JP. Hope my latest fits the window a bit better. I actually do understand about breaking the flow. And to those out there with little, ahem, monitors, I apologize to you as well. Without you, all of this effort would be meaningless, so I strive to make these as "user friendly" as possible.

For me, either short teases or long can work well, as long as they are literate and grammatically correct. Misspelled words and incorrect sentance structure can completely undermine my enjoyment of a tease, and become the aspects upon which I focus rather than the T&D!
I suppose I most enjoy the teases with some body and substance to them, that create a scene or situation and context.
Related to this question are these observations:
First, for me, the teases need to be interactive, so that I am being directed to do things rather than simply read a story. Some (a few) of the tease here are little more than stories, and I don't come to this site to read stories, but to play.
Second, the teases need to be logical and achievable. Some flow from situation to situation without any continuity. For instance, a tease might start out with the Lady teaser noting that I have a chastity belt on (in which case, as the teasee, I want to have my chastity belt on). She then tells the teasee to start stroking...(uh, but I still have a chatitiy belt on...) That sort of illogical progression short circuits a tease fast.
Third, many of the teases set time limits that are just too much to ask. "Stroke yourself for 5 minutes. Good boy. Now stroke faster for 15 minutes....") Don't get me wrong, I love a good long tease, and it's a turn on to not know how much longer a tease will continue, but some of these things become impossible. This is a balancing issue to be considered by each tease writer. Long teases can be wonderful or they can self destruct.
Finally, I personally love the teases where I need to bring some toys or supplies. (A good length of string or rope is always a great start!) However, the supply lists should be managable. Some are so long that it becomes impossible to produce the items, so why continue? Again, as I noted above, the teases should be constructed so that most of us can read and obey.

Vor, thank you. Your post was exactly the kind of thing I was suspecting all along. I'm glad to hear that you have a definite opinion on what you like to read. While I appreciate people saying that they have no definite idea on what a tease should be, I'm sure everyone has preferences on what they like, and dislike, or what they enjoy reading. Thank you for your frank openness on the subject!

Well said vor, i don't think i can add anything else to that.

Except, perhaps to say thanks to the people who don't speak english as a first language, like Miss Tira  ( Sorry Miss only joking) for the extra effort they have to put in, i'm pretty certain i wouldn't be able to translate text into your language.
Is there or could there be a system put in place where they could ask for help if need be?
I hope that doesn't sound to condescending, thats not my intention.
