Can we also do something about these "teases" that are nothing more than ads? I know the system is set up so that low rated teases disappear, but this one is a 3+ at the moment and absolutely nothing more than an ad for another site. There have been several of these lately, all by the same author. Most of them have disappeared as they are below 2 on the ratings.

Totally agree with Supermokkori... Actually thinking we could probably use some additional mods in the videos forum at least. No offense to AndyP, people's interests wax and wane, I know mine do. We could just use some more active moderation...

I agree and think the "On Video" forum could really use at least 5 or 6 moderators (there are many who have proven themselves good and active members of our community), at least until the spammers get bored.

Also, for extreme cases of spamming, banning not only the account but the IP address should be considered, if that is an option in the software.

Banning an IP address wouldn't work unless the spammers have a static IP address which is very unlikely.

They just need a few more mods. Or Janitors (mods, but who're under strict instructions to use their powers for nothing other than deleting spam). I'd volunteer, and'm sure there're plenty of others who would. Just dunno what these forums are like behind the scenes, mebe the only mod system built in is to give someone way more power than you want many strange people to have...

I appreciate the sentiment, Sissyphuster, but right now we need some action. And it's painfully clear that the mods don't want to deal with this at all or they're ignorant as to what to do. So far of the mods that have checked in lately in July, only Mistress Jenifer and nilcum have been seen (jp might have as well tho can't tell from his status).

That said, Seraph0x checked in a couple days ago so hopefully we'll have some type of action/response soon.

One was dealt with back in the beginning of the month. The others were dealt with now. And as Venus pointed out, none of their IPs are even remotely similar. So chances are proxy servers being used (if it is 1 person, or it is multiple people who just happen to be spamming at the same time), only thing to do is to report them. Seems Wyatt is on Vacation or something, though I do not see any message from him... which woulda been nice hehe.

I will put out 2 points of my own here;
1. I am not a Team Member that is very forum-attentive... In fact I was brought in by a co-admin that is no longer here. And my primary job was to take over his position within the Team, which is the chat. So I tend to not really look at the forum very often, if at all. But with Wyatt taking a vaca, I'll start making more of an attempt to actually check through the Mod-Que daily or semi-daily. So report the posts and the accounts and I'll get to working through them.

2. Adding people has, from my understanding previously, been... Sluggish. Admins are very rarely made, seraph basically hand picks those that he wants to be admin. And stepping from normal member to Team Member is similar. Seraph/another-Team Member will recommend the person, and then a vote is done by the active members. Takes over 50% of the votes being in favor to get the person onto the Team. Chat Mod group is completely different, and I frankly do not even know if they have any power at all on the forum (I did not make the group, the former Chat-Head had it made but I would hazard a guess that they do not).

With all that said, one more thing to address that came up in this topic;
@ilucbt; I'm currently waiting to hear from the group thats still around. I know that part of the issue with the teases was that seraph was against removing teases in general, even ones that were clearly ad ones. Frankly I'm not sure if removing a tease is possible (again not my area, Wyatt might know better and seraph even better). So he implemented the vote rating filter. But if these other ads continue that are just pointing people somewhere else using a short-hand linking site... I personally think this is just inviting trouble onto our forum. So in those cases, I may lean on seraph and force him into action to remove them or get them completely hidden from being viewed.

As has been pointed out, spammers often use proxies, and in that case I agree that banning an IP address will not help. However, I will point out that these days a dynamic IP address assigned by an ISP's DHCP server is very often just as static as a static IP address would be. There was a period of about seven years when I had the same IP address, even though it was not a static IP address. That is because most of us these days have a router in our home that is always on, and even if it were turned off (like in the case of a power outage) it usually takes some days before the DHCP server would free up that IP address for use by a different user. All of that is highly dependent on the DHCP server settings, of course, but it has been my experience with several different ISPs that IP addresses don't change often, even when they are not officially "static" IP addresses.

Now that I've written that, I'm not sure why I really felt the need, other than pointing out that it's not as simple as whether the IP address is a static one or not. That being said, I agree that banning IP addresses is not the best option.
