Don't worry about not being a big poster. Not everyone needs to be.

Make a rough draft using a word processor

Post by camel »

I'm no expert, I've only written one tease, but one thing that helped me a lot was an idea I read in this forum: Write it in a word processor, first.

At the start of each paragraph, I put the image's file name in bold, and then wrote the text of the page. I'm really glad I did. There were a few plot errors that I don't think I'd have noticed if I hadn't laid it out like a script.

The biggest benefit is that you can edit really easily, which means you're spending more time 'in flow' and less time concentrating on the interface. The computer should help, not be in the way. View it without page separations, don't do any fancy formatting, don't mess with cutting and pasting images in your word document, anything that will speed you up enough that you aren't putting your creative process on hold while you're fighting the computer. If you aren't familiar with your word processor, consider using a really dumb editor like Notepad, and then copying and pasting it into a word processor strictly for spelling and grammar checks.
