Fifty shades of Grey. Is it really so bad? I consider buying it to my gf for christmass.

The concensus seems to be that it's neither a good book nor good bdsm erotica, but for some reason every negative review i found seems to have been written by that bitter, bigot, rigid and frigid school teacher, we all remember...

So, is it really that bad? Bad points? Worse points? Worst points? Any redeeming quality?

Every girl I know that has read it thinks it's great. It isn't the most well written book as it started out as twilight fan fiction from an amateur writer but it is hard to argue with massive success.
Based only on its success I would say you would be unlucky if she didn't enjoy it at least a little.
