Suggestion for tagging teases
Suggestion for tagging teases
Hi Guys
I love the site and think the community you have created is excellent.
I do have a suggestion - the number of teases has grown hugely and we can all rate them. Would it be possible so that people can have their own favourites - we all have different tastes and this would mean we could all go to our favourites very easily without having to search through all the teases.
It should also encourage people to register for the site.
Hope the suggestion meets with approval.
yours konaf

Konaf,
I'm with you on this. I suggested something similiar a while back, but never heard a reply from any of the Milovana admin. Just a lot of people telling me that I can save on my computer or write down urls and what not.
I think it's a great idea. A lot of websites allow you to save or have a favorites as part of your log-in capabilites. I agree that it would add an extra dimension to your ID here, and might also give another reason for people to sign up.
I also hope that this suggestion is considered!

First of all - you can just bookmark the teases you like. It isnt that difficult...
Secondly I think this is a great idea!
I dont have a need to store my favorites - But if the site had an option to "Save as a favorite" at the end of a tease I would probably use it...
And if the site site saved that info, it could make a "recommended teases"-box...
Thinking about it could do that now - it already has the rating-system. It should be possible to show other teases which have received high rating from people who rated the current tease high?
And to get a view of your favorites - you really only need a listing of the teases you have rated in decending order...
Of course I assume the site stores each vote, I dont know if it does?

Here you go! That's a list of all teases you rated with five stars, sorted by when you rated them, most recent on top.
As for marking teases that have peeked your interest for future viewing: Just bookmark them. I don't see the point in duplicating features that the browser already has.

Yes, that feature is planned. Actually, we have already implemented it, but it puts additional load on the server, so it's currently deactivated. Our server is already reaching it's limits and I'd rather not risk activating a new feature until we've moved to a bigger one.ts wrote:And if the site site saved that info, it could make a "recommended teases"-box...

Great stuff.
While we're chatting about this sort of stuff, I'd be interested to see a page of, say, 10 random teases, rather than the single random tease currently. And I'd also appreciate a quicker way of getting all of an author's teases. Currently that would be to view the author's profile, and click the teases link there.
I would like there to be a link at the end of every tease that would show the list of all teases by that author. At the moment, once in a tease it's not possible to see who the author is.

I second this motion. This website NEEDS a Save as Favourite function for each of it members ID's allowing members quick and easy access to teases they enjoy. Take a lesson from Youtube.
This is not a request it is a demand. Simply dimissing it and telling members to bookmark it on their explorer page is merely a stalling tactic for what is an innevitable requirement. I do not want a favourites list on my explorer the length of my arm. Nor is it practical from a safety aspect, as children can access favourites on shared computers, and if your mates want to use your pc you have to delete all your favourites from your explorer.
This is absoloutley, unequivocally a must have feature for this site. Instead of wasting time on "secret projects", which save for the initial play around with it month, users have not taken to, priority should be given to implementing useful functions such as a Save as Favourite feature. It will improve the quality of browsing experience, and satisfy your customer requests.

Waw. Please show some respect to people who offer you such a great content for free and who don't earn anything from it either.JD wrote:This is not a request it is a demand.
Is there that many difference between a Milovana folder in your favorites and a list here? And about the safety/privacy aspect: do you ALWAYS remember to delete all references in your browser history and such? They aren't stupid, you know.Simply dimissing it and telling members to bookmark it on their explorer page is merely a stalling tactic for what is an innevitable requirement. 1. The creator(s) do this for fun, so let them choose what they want to do. They will listen to your suggestions and think about it, but your requests are not necessarily what they want to make.Instead of wasting time on "secret projects"
2. Once again, very rude to call it wasting time, since you don't even know what the secret projects are. What if it turns out to be an excellent addition?
Customer? Since when is this a pay site? Or did you donate some money? And even if you donate, which would be very friendly of you, it doesn't mean they need to fullfil your requests... and satisfy your customer requests.
Please be at least polite and respectful to people who maintain this site and invest their time in it, without earning anything from it.

Actually read the post before you rant. Idleness was not even listed as a reason. There is no point implementing features just because a some people are too lazy to bookmark things
Comments such as this show your naivety, just because i don't post on a daily basis means i'm not an active member or that my opinion isn't even to be considered? Or because i don't post every single day, that means you can just shout me down?especially if those people are not putting in any obvious effort to help the site along
Lol don't see what this has to do with anything. Served no relevance to your rant. This isn't youtube, this is a site run by some folks for the fun of it not for profit. Have you noticed the lack of ads, viruses, spam here?
By taking things to a personal level has only served to discredit you. And it kind of reeks of hypochracy, since obvously your the one who seems to be more emotionally involved since you've reacted with such a personal, low level, school playground attack. Please obtain a life, then come back and see about being a reasonable human being...
Firstly, where exactly did i not show any respect. Secondly, if mods, admin, people didnt dismiss excellent ideas that people like konaf and Mr.Panty suggest in such a frivolous manner, maybe the community would feel more willingness to show respect. Its a two way street. Please show some respect to people who offer you such a great content for free and who don't earn anything from it either.
I'm not stupid either, thankyou for being so condescending though. I'm sure it made you feel better.do you ALWAYS remember to delete all references in your browser history and such? They aren't stupid, you know.
The Secret Project has been and gone. Wake up and smell the roses. The current 1st page of webteases contains 1 flash tease, and umpteen original style. Hence the project was a dud. Lets not try to coat it in sugar and pretend that it was a hit.since you don't even know what the secret projects are.
Again, i can't see where i have been rude. I have merely stated facts in a plain talking approach. Just because i don't brown nose the people who run this site doesn't mean i have been rude in the slightest. I have offered constructional advice as to how the site can improve, as i like you i'm sure, want to see the site be as good as it can be.Please be at least polite and respectful to people who maintain this site and invest their time in it, without earning anything from it.
I was referring to the demand part, that didn't seem respectful and it appears I'm not the only one who sees it like that. And about deciding what's a waste of time, when people have invested a lot of time in development.JD wrote: Firstly, where exactly did i not show any respect. Good for you. But my point was not to be condescending, but that you would need consistency in your point. And it appears you for one are consistent if you do delete the browser history and cache.I'm not stupid either, thankyou for being so condescending though. I'm sure it made you feel better.
It's been announced that this was only part of the major secret project; some other parts are still being developed ;)The Secret Project has been and gone. Wake up and smell the roses. Sure, you are indeed giving constructional advice, but again: the demanding and wasting time seemed disrespectful to me.I have offered constructional advice as to how the site can improve, as i like you i'm sure, want to see the site be as good as it can be.

I dont have the right to voice my opinions? Is this self censorship? I musn't demand as its a free service. Ok call the police. I'll hand myself in.You really don't have the right to demand anything be done
Its merely a techniqure i've implored to draw the people who run this sites attention to something which the site is crying out for. As evidently when Mr.Panty requested previously in a polite manner, he didnt even receive an acknowledgement. I'm just making sure that not just mine, but a number of peoples voice is heard, and that we're not just drowned out or dismissed by the "regulars".You may have valid complaints, but when you demand something from a service that is offered free of charge, your credibility goes out the window.
Credibility eh? You must have just read my last post. Try to think of your own digs in future, reciting what i have just written is rather childish.
Wow, I had no idea this suggestion was going to become such a "heated" debate. :-O

I would just like to add another point to this. Some members don't have their own personal computer. They live at home with parents or share the computer with others in their household. This makes bookmarking them in their browser not an option.
It would just be nice to be able to log into Milovana and have a list of your favorite teases without having to search for them. A person's favorite teases aren't necessarily the highest rated teases on the site.

I think the suggestion is a good one, I think it would make a nice feature.
JD, the way you expressed yourself made it look like you have an attitude that's not appropriate for the situation here. Making demands implies that whomever you ask for those things owes you something, which clearly isn't the case here. Then users of this site aren't customers, because, as someone said, they don't pay. Which is also one more reason why you shouldn't talk about what people running this site choose as their priorities in further improving this site in a condescending way. That's what people in this thread were getting at, partly a bit aggressive, but that's really understandable considering your original post was in a similar tone and put things in a way that most people will rightfully consider inappropriate for the situation, so I don't really see a good reason for accusing them of being childish either.

Hey, JD, thanks for your comments. If you're sharing your computer with others, I can only recommend getting an USB stick and a copy of Firefox Portable.
Please understand that I'm dismissing this feature for a number of reasons:
1. Most of our users (about 97%) are not registered and couldn't use it anyway.
2. From the other 3% at least half will be satisfied with the bookmarking solution for now. (As they have said so in this thread and others.)
3. Bugs already take priority over features and there are several major bugs in Nyx right now. Some of these are important because they affect 100% of our users and some them are important because they severely annoy our authors which is the last thing I want to do.
I appreciate your arguments and I don't mind the strong tone at all, but please understand that I have to ration my time and set priorities which won't always line up with yours. Sorry, I sincerely would love to do more, better and faster but it's not always possible.
Everybody else: I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't defend the Team and myself quite as zealously. We welcome critics and I don't want the few people who do have the balls to criticize us to be flamed right away. JD has a point in that this site is not a charity, I'm working to build a business here and although I want to keep it free for you guys I want to eventually make some money with it. So don't hold back with demands and criticism, if I'm off track I absolutely need to hear it.
Also, this discussion is by no means over: I'm curious to hear JD's counterargument and whoever else wants to give their two cents.
Thanks.
