New, faster Tease browser

Post by seraph0x »

Hey everyone,

check out our new and improved tease browser, which is now powered by JavaScript and does no longer reload the whole website while you are going through the pages.

This will also be the basis for the tag filtering feature that will enable you to filter the teases according to tags soon.

If you don't have Javascript enabled, the browser will work just like before.

Cheers,

seraph0x :-)

Almost forgot: If there are any problems with the new browser, please post here or in the Tech Support forum and I'll try to help you as fast as possible.

Works great for browsing the list of teases - but when I try to open a tease, I just get "Refreshing the list" at the top of the list, and the tease doesnt open...

Firefox 2.0 - javascript enabled.

I am sure you will fix this - It is amazing how this site has improved in a very short time.

Duh. I can be so stupid sometimes. :wall:

With this funny little bug I essentially shut down all tease viewing, so 1 million thanks for reporting this so quickly.

Hey - thank you for fixing it so fast!

I am amazed by the work you guys are doing here... And you don't even get anything but small thank now and then.

I have to try to make a tease now - Just to contribute a little ;-)

... and that's exactly what we're getting out of it: new teases. - We are users of this site, too, you know. ;-)

But seriously, eventually we'll have to put up something to at least cover hosting costs. You can trust us however that we'll always use the least obtrusive option available.

Also, to get the free pictures you guys use in teases, we will have to fulfill certain obligations (like signing up with and linking to the original sites) to obtain copyright.

So, well, this is not a perfect world, but we'll try our best to keep this site as good as it can be and that also means that we'll use the least amount of advertising humanly possible. It was just today that I turned down some dude that offered me some phony link exchange and a wierd affiliate site. It's just... I'm using this site myself and I don't want that stuff in my face all the time, either.

Hi seraphox, site looks great! All the better for my teasing

I agree about the ads posted everywhere. But i think i speak for a few people when i say i would rather see ads then have to pay. In our case, i think john and i would create one account so that we wouldnt have to pay twice....

We will take it as it comes, John and I really appreciate the time and effort your putting into this site, we have a hell of alot of fun. Well, i do, john not so much :-P

Maybe someone needs to create a webtease directed only at you Seraph.... :hmmm:

It is definitely planned to keep this site free. So don't worry about ;-) This was the main reason why i joined this site and the team and try to support wherever i can.

And yeah seraph0x does a fanastic job. He spent a lot of time and work for it.

Milovana? A paysite? :yikes: No freaking way.

Most likely we'll eventually aim for a model like they use at Stumbleupon: The service is completely free. However, there is some mild advertising. (Usually, you wouldn't even notice it's there - it's through so-called "Sponsored Stumbles", if you know what Stumbleupon does, you'll understand.)

Now, if you like the Stumbleupon service, you can become a sponsor. That means paying 5$ a year and you get a cool green sponsor icon and no more ads. And a few non-essential gimmick features.

Bottom line: No one will ever be forced to pay anything on this site. We will always aim to be so good that you'll want to pay a little, just to make sure the site sticks around. :-)

(Btw. Stumbleupon is the only online service I ever paid for, because it totally rules and in many ways it's definitely my role model in how I run my sites and even my companies. I don't agree with everything they do, but with a lot.)

Hmm, seems like I'm looking towards a bright future, am I not? :-D

But seriously, it wouldn't feel right to have a tease just for me. If this someone wants to say Thanks, s/he should thank the whole team, not just me.

Sure the webmaster often gets the most glory, but without his team the site would break down.

Thanks Seraph, you rule...

I havnt heard about this stumbleupon thing, as im not a real technical type of girl. But the way you explained it, it sounds absolutely great.

As for a tease for just you moderator guys..... I might be able to whip something up sometime.

To the entire team at Milovana, first, again, a huge "Thanks"! The work you are doing and the service you are providing is, IMHO, outstanding. I realize that a great amount of effort goes into it, and even though you are also users of the site, it is still your time and effort. To put that in without expectation of recompense is amazing.

I keep intending to create a tease, but seem to spend too much time ogling everyone else's work, I don't seem to get up the necessary head of steam (to create a tease! :-) )

While free is great, I am also in a position, and of the inclination, to volunteer a modest donation to help ensure the site continues in the vein discussed above. If I'm not contributing a tease, I'd at least like to contribute something.

Please let us know if you set anything up where myself and others could make a voluntary contribution to keep things going.

Thanks again!
