That is exactly right! And as someone who grew up in New York City - they talk way too slow down there too...
As for myself, I love a French accent, and most Eastern European accents (they have that mysterious sound to them). Of course what I like best is when it's a really sexy girl speaking. So maybe it doesn't really have much to do with the accent...

Sadly i just got back about a week ago, i was over for 2 wonderful weeks at the start of april and heading back again at the end of july for a much longer stay this time :)

Hmmm....well, I have a southern accent, laced with a bit of Midwestern words.
Such as.....I pronounce "WASH" as "WARSH". *giggling* My kid loves making fun of that.
Let's see....what accent turns me on. I guess lots of them do...but heck I get turned on so easily. *laughing*
I listened to a Greek man speak both English and Greek a year or so ago......I found I got very warm listening to him. *blushing*
