What accent turns you on?

that an American accent is a real turn-off for me. This isn't an attack on realslave's teases or Americans in general, I'm just stating an observation. Whether it's because I'm from England or not, I find that British accents (although not all) are much more of a turn-on for me (especially really posh sounding ones). Also German but that's another story.

I was just wondering what others think on this. Is there a particular accent that turns you on/off? Are you more enclinded to find your own accent (or similar) more sexy than others? Or does the accent play no role for you whatsoever?

Here in the states, accents vary depending on where a person is from. People from New England (Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire...) sound different than people from the Midwest (Illinois, Wisconsin, ...). The "South" (Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana, ...) has a unique accent. And that's just a few of them. Each region is unique. I suppose that's true of other countries, but I could be wrong.

As far as American accents go, I prefer the Southern gals....and I find the Midwestern accent to be rather "nasal" & annoying. But that's just me.

Internationally, feminine British accents are my personal favorite. I definitely perk up when I hear one.

Part of your reaction to the accent in the teases could very simply be that you're more used to hearing a Brittish or German accent than an American one. That's understandable...not everyone is turned on by something outside their normal, daily experience. It's a familiarity thing.

I, myself, am originally from Massachusetts, and find that a Southern accent does a bit more for me, while a New York/New Jersey accent can annoy me more than anything else. To be honest, European accents, while interesting, don't do a lot for me arousal-wise. I guess, in the end, it's all as subjective as anything else that turns you on, and there's no "right" or "wrong" answer to the question. It's what works for you.

Yes, I think it has something to do with what one is used to. Because I am the exact opposite. I'm American and British accents really annoy me. It does, however, vary as some people are very good at speaking or have a good voice and other people don't. I've really enjoyed some British girls, but on average I don't enjoy the accent as much.

I'm not the biggest fan of the American accent, if it's not overly profound I don't mind it at all, but it's when you get the really over the top annoying preppy young Americans and the noise they make just grates. I'm not sure where it's from but I'm guessing it's over the western side of America some where. If I had to pick though I'd say that the southern accent was the most appealing.

The French accent is super hot and I don't mind Irish accents if they're not overly thick to the point where you can't understand what they're saying.
British girls have nice accents too, I'm not sure where the accent I like comes from though. (Despite living in Britain. Lol.) I'm sure it's from the Midlands somewhere, it sounds nice and well spoken but not posh.

Australian girls also have nice accents.

Oh, and can't forget the way Japanese girls sound. Love it. (Just need to actually learn to speak the language now.)

I suppose I have never found an accent that I thought made whatever X is unappealing even in the slightest. I dont know, maybe it's just me but it dosent really matter where you are from or how you sound if what you have to say is worth listening to. But enough from me :)

Yes, sorry if I over-generalised American accents a little. I am aware that there are countless numbers of different ones (as in any country). I too would probably prefer the southern belle accent to the others.

I certainly agree that familiarity has something to do with it but that wouldn't explain why I also find female Australian accents really sexy. But as you aluded to, it's down to the individual.

Yeh I think that precisely the kind of American accent that I'm alluding to - that kind of over the top, boisterous and ignorant-sounding accent mostly heard from the younger generation in the West (I presume). As I mentioned briefly earlier - female Australian accents are hot!

It's the same in the UK, there are huge differences in accent between different regions and even neighbouring towns and cities.

It's quite amazing how two sets of people who only live about 50 miles apart can speak completely differently (Liverpool and Manchester case in point). There's such a variety for such a small island. It's about time other accents other than cockney got some representation on American TV!

Yes I agree, the subject matter play a massive part as well but for me personally, the exact same text can sound sexier just by changing the accent.

Second...I'm a little suprised to see the number of people who like the southern accent. I don't mind it, but their made up words drive me crazy...ya'll!

As for the one I like the most....Australian.

The English accent isn't bad, probably my second favorite, but depends on what's being said. The real trouble with that one is that they can easily sound pompous and arrogant, so really depends on what they're saying.

By the description, I'm guessing you're referring to Southern California "Valley Girls" or "Surfer Dudes."
If so, I completely agree. That accent just grinds on my last nerve.

Some people enunciate better than others regardless of local.

The "BBC" standardised English was brought in as regional accents differed even in the same town.
Now they use people with distinct accents but not those with too broad a one.
