It's rather personal really. But yes edging helps, as well as long sessions. Also anal play (and other prostate stimulations) get a lot of pre cum, because it actually IS a prostate juice.

As others have already mentioned, but a simple truth that doesn't hurt repeating: How active your Cowper's glad is varies a lot from person to person. Some people are 100% dry even if edged to hell and back, and some people have a real problem "wetting their pants" from pre-cum as soon as even thinking about sex at all.

People are just very very different that way, nothing wrong with either way really.
