Depends on what material the lock is made. See what's it made of and see if it will corrode.
My word - most probably yes.
You may replace the lock with some plastic string for a time being.

The lock will be fine.

The locks they provide with the CB6000 is designed to get wet from time-to-time, such as when washing. They are usually made of brass, which doesn't rust, anyway. Spending the afternoon in the pool won't be a problem for it.

The externals may be brass but the internals wil no doubt contain steel items but they should be fine with an occasional immersion as they will soon dry from body heat. Long term damp is more of an issue for rust. If you're worried smear a little petroleum jelly into the key hole and around where the clasp moves. Theres better stuff than petroleum jelly for industrial type purposes but not so kind on the skin.

Do not use WD40/GT85 or other such light lubes - they are very good at initially shifting the water and freeing things up but do tend to was away all the thicker greases that really give some protection. My own preference would be for a silicon grease or white PTFE grease for any lock.

Hi,

Im locked up in a cb6000 aswell.
In my expierence the (black) lock that came with it does corrode.
After wearing it in the shower for about 10 days, the lock wouldnt open annymore..
It took me almost 15 minutes of wiggeling the key to finally get unlocked.
Since then i didnt trust it annymore and switched locks.

I guess its ok for a one time swimming session, but if your using it for a longer period,
you might want keep an eye on it.

I imagine vaseline would be a good "grease", at least over the keyhole. I usually tape mine up with packing tape, or insulation tape or even rubber tape. Initially this was for those exact fears, but then I liked the fact that a key wasn't enough to unlock it: I also needed 20 minutes work with a penknife!

That said, I've used cheap brass locks from a supermarket over several sessions of over a week without much if any protection of their innards and never had a problem with the insides corroding.or malfunctioning. The little buggers really are more robust than you think.

I have gone 60 days straight in a cb-2000 with a small master lock. During that time I was and out of the shower, hot tub, swimming pool and the pacific ocean. Never once had a problem. A friend of mine went an entire year. No I would not worry about the little locks.
