Question - anyone tried this stuff - seriously? Like go to bed and have it play while you sleep, or similar?

IMHO - I see it as great money making stuff, but nothing that actually works right?

Any sort of hypnotism works as well as the subject allows it to. Anyone not wanting to be hypnotized simply can't be.

I guess it works much like when you are awake... Mostly you will resist doing something you don't want to, but in much the same way as you can be tricked or persuaded into doing something while awake, you to some extent can while being hypnotised as well I guess.

Highly improbable. Pain is pain. For this to work, you must conciously want to interpret the pain in foot as pleasure. I'm no hypnosis expert, but I doubt generic suggestions like the one you mentioned can warp something as basic as pain.

Was merely an example ... there's *lots* more depth to it than that, but I didn't want to get into the finer points.

The massive misconception is that hypnosis is instant.
Just like real life you can turn someone given opportunity and time.
Many slaves take training to accept pain.
Hypnosis affects the subconscious its defences are quite good. however when agreeable to a suggestion is quite easy to implement an idea or trait. which then is supplemented by concious actions.
hence the more you want to do something the easier it is to do .
take stopping smoking or drinking for instance.
most say it is really difficult.
I did both easy peasy because I had reasons that helped me want to stop.
Coughing up blood stopped the smoking.
Being in a "Cardiac Care Unit" decided drinking for me.

That was the second time I'd tried. First time didn't work for me but I went in totally unprepared. And I've done it once since then, but after only a day or two of self restraint and minimal teasing and I got maybe a quarter of the strength of the other time. It's definitely a more advanced session that requires a bit of preparation and/or repeat listening, but I intend to try it again very soon!
