I don’t post very often, only if I think I have something to add. In that vein I think I do at this point. All the discord on the board is very disturbing to me and obviously to a lot of other members. The people involved have all put effort into making this board what it is. I’m sure for the most part we all want what is best for Milovana and by extension for ourselves.
I suggest if someone trolls or flames or otherwise says something you don’t like or agree with, draft a polite response, if appropriate, and then don’t respond anymore. If the person is just trying for attention or to cause discord than by not continuing the discussion you have ruined their fun. I have done this in real life and after a while the person changed their behavior.
As an example if someone starts a thread about an item in the “Urge” and goes on and on about it, I could draft a response saying that the definition seems fine to me. Then if the person who started the thread continues ranting just ignore it. If nobody will argue it is no longer fun. It isn’t fun to argue with nobody and it doesn’t give the person any attention.
There are a couple of people that I won’t even read what they post. They don’t contain anything that I care about and I don’t respect their opinion anymore so why waste my time reading what I consider drivel?

Re: Discord on the board
to be honest, i have seen more drama than people being rude or offensive, i just think everyone needs to grow up a bit. All the fuss being made about Human, les, nez etc i think has been silly, as they all made decent points in what they were saying.
I just hope everyone learns to chill out a bit, this is a free site, with anonymous members, living a fantasy life - who really needs drama in a situation like this?
Good post, well written, i agree with human by agreeing.

The life itself is a drama. The only point is how you look at it.

Re: Discord on the board
Totally agree.
I also wonder if people continue to reply, even though it's literally flogging a dead horse, just to get their post number up? It seems a certain amount of "respect" is given on this board for the historical number of posts someone has, and is even awarded higher "respect" ratings (explorer at heart etc.) for how many posts they have.
On other sites I know of where they have this, they also have ratings per post (like 1-5), so if someone posts something dumb and inane, other members can rate it poorly; and on the other hand, if someone posts something that is really useful, well said or just to the point, you can rate that post highly.
So you can have an average rating per member - e.g. even if they have 1000+ posts to their name, they might have an overall low rating (like 1.3 average), and someone with a lower post count might have a higher rating as they have been posting helpful, positive replies.

Re: Discord on the board
Didn't notice anyone ever paying attention to it. I'v seen forums where they do. Yea, there is "ranks" on the forum that are given for a certain ammount of posts, but I didn't notice anyone paying any attention to it.It seems a certain amount of "respect" is given on this board for the historical number of posts someone has, and is even awarded higher "respect" ratings (explorer at heart etc.) for how many posts they have.
I don't think anyone here needs a ratings option. The last thing people do here is compete in such a silly matter. As for me, you might as well remove the post counter at all. And I doubt many people will notice it other than "oh, forum design changes a bit..."

Have to agree with Nezhul on that part at least. I don't think anyone really pays much attention to post counts....other than the occasional "celebration" for reaching their 100th, 200th, or whatever particular milestone they feel like celebrating themselves.
There are many members here, that have been around for quite some time, and yet have fairly low post counts. I always just figured they weren't very talkative people. As one of those people who frequently goes for long periods without saying anything, I can certainly understand it. Doesn't mean I respect their opinions any less, nor do I respect higher count numbers any more.
As for the current round of drama...meh...it happens. Like Seraph0x said...it's happened before and it's pretty darn certain to happen again. This may be the internet and all, but we're all still people behind these keyboards. (Unless those damn computers are taking over our kinks now too!) We all have emotions and sometimes those emotions over-ride our own good judgment, but I don't think it ruins the community to have occasional spats. All it really does is show that we're real people. I don't see how that's a bad thing.

Re: Discord on the board
My final word on all this.
It was the method of implementation I had a problem with.
I am over it now.
I have no enemies and offer friendship to every one.
Strange how much kerfuffle occurred.
