Me too. I'm happy to help in any way and would be glad to proofread for any tease author.Kaitriot wrote:I'm still willing to proofread English only teases before they're made public if needed. Please just PM me to discuss.

I have seen plenty more such cases than just this one, but at least here is number two then.Nezhul wrote:Yea, and for that we should all tell him: "Thanks, Captain Obvious, we didn't know none of it!"The intention of the original poster is clearly to shed light on a few aspects
The thread is pointless. It's no more than complaints that will not change anything. I have seen only 1 (ONE!) thread like this with a point - where the threadstarter offerd hes help to fix the grammar in ones teases.
Pointing out areas where the world can improve does not necessarily constitute whining. Sure, it often does, but sometimes, just sometimes, it just happens to be constructive criticism and forward thinking as well.
And as I have pointed out, people offering to proof read is all good and great, but only goes so far. The far better solution would be to incorporate proper proofing tools within the editors themselves.
That is constructive work, not whining by the way, nor is it really addressed to tease authors at all, but rather the developers of the tease editors themselves (who happen to be the ones with the key to the real solution here)
Yes, I most certainly CAN do it again!
Re: Tease Turnoffs
constructive work is when you PM seraphox and offer your help in writing proofing module for nyx and other editors. And just saying "someone should do it".... lol, you know, noone pays anyone for this. And seraphox and hes team has real life and real work to do. On top of that they have HUNDREDS of ideas, that worth spending some free time on, and that are far better than making a good editor that'll catch your grammar flaws.
Seriously, think before you post.

Re: Tease Turnoffs
You complain about this thread being unconstructive whining, but almost every post Ive ever seen from you seems to be unconstrucive whining........ maybe you should take your own advice and use your brain before you post something.Nezhul wrote: Seriously, think before you post.
Re: Tease Turnoffs
The posts like here - are no whining, this is criticism. Sorry, but it's rather dumb to ask things like "make it better" or "rewrite the editor" from people who do this of their free will. ESPECIALLY when those posts come from effortless lurkers.
Next thing, my posts here are eather that, or advices and constructive thoughts on the matter, if there is one. You say all I do is whining - well show me a single thread like that, and I'll say you are right. Or else YOU are whom my advice above is pointed on.

Re: Tease Turnoffs
First of all, why on earth are we having what is unmistakably starting to sound like an argument over this? That's just plain silly.Nezhul wrote:constructive work is when you PM seraphox and offer your help in writing proofing module for nyx and other editors.
Secondly, I have pointed this out many times before. Presenting ideas and/or pointing out flaws can (and is) constructive even if it something you can go fix yourself.
When it comes to manual proof reading I have also offered that many times, and even done a few, but as it happens, that is not the best solution to this problem.
Yes, I most certainly CAN do it again!
Re: Tease Turnoffs
Yes it is. There is NO better solution when we talk about freeware, that's made on pure enthusiasm. You cant demand something from anyone, it's useless to point out this flaws too - hell, the author who writes with mistakes is probably full aware of the fact. All you can do - is offer your HELP. And so-called "pointing out" is juat a useless and pointless complaining.

Re: Tease Turnoffs
As an impartial "newbie", I have to agree that Nezhul is guilty of that to which he objects.
I shall, however, offer a solution to the lack of spell checking within the editor: use FireFox with the automatic spell checking facility turned on.
It won't sort out the differences between there, their and they're and between to, too and two but any author who believes their own work to be worth reading will, surely, have sufficient respect for their readers to have spent time learning such basic howlers . . . . . . . won't he?

Re: Tease Turnoffs
As far as spell checking goes...why not just write your tease in Word or some other program that has spell check, then cut and paste it into the editor?
Maybe not an ideal solution, but certainly not complicated.

Re: Tease Turnoffs
I would like to remind dix and Nezhul that not everyone here is an experienced forum user and tease maker. I don't know how many of these threads you guys have seen, but this was my first one and I learned already two things (either put your mouse in the upper left corner or use a spacebar to advance). And besides that you learn what people really don't like, whatever your tease is about. As a total noob in making teases (and the aspiration of writing one....once....) I find these comments useful. And not necessarily whining either, as long as the posters in this thread do not ask extra effort of the administrators and other volunteers of Milovana. In that case they should get of their own asses, the posters that is.
Also an opinion should be accompanied by arguments and/or explanation. For example, someone posted in this thread that flash teases were a turn off, without explanation, this of course does not say what the turn off of a flash tease is.
The OP on the other hand is clear, though maybe not so much in his language.
He dislikes spelling errors, dislikes clicking all around the screen and searching for the continue button and wants to be prepared before he starts he tease.
One of my turn-offs is as well when suddenly an item is needed which I don't have within hands reach. I have a limited space to do the teases and my toy collection is limited very much by my wallet. Thus I do would like to know in advance what items are required, as well as the time and space required. But maybe I wouldn't even list this necessarily as a turn off, but rather as a disappointment, because this mostly annoys me when I really would love to do that particular tease.
I don't really mind spelling errors, I make them all the time. Some teases though are written in msn language, which is just plain ugly in my opinion.
My biggest turn off though is that, when I'm a few minutes into the tease the cold remembers me that I forgot to turn up the heat before I started playing.
ps. In Opera it is also possible to add a spell-check, but this won't work in Nyx due to the fact that this is in flash, so I actually think the best approach in this case is to copy the texts in a word processor (and possible have a proofreader)
pps. Dix & Nezhul, maybe you could enlighten us on what you find irritating of first-time tease makers and maybe enlighten us with some common errors made in teases.

Re: Tease Turnoffs
If you find any spelling or grammor errors in my flash teases, please let me know and i'll fix them. I am severly dyslexic. xx
Re: Tease Turnoffs
Word is not very convenient for flash, unfortunately. Tryed it, and it's too much pain to copy/paste and then edit it there. Writing in editor is about 20-30% faster, if you ask me. And as bad as it may seem, My time worths having a few mistakes in the teases, especially that good people link them in feedback thread and I fix it...

I completely agree that expecting authors to write in a different tool and then copy&paste it into nyx is expecting entirely too much.Nezhul wrote:Word is not very convenient for flash, unfortunately. MY main business here is to seek a solution that is as convenient as humanly possible - since that is essential for it to actually get used at all.
Which is why, again, the best solution would be embedded spell checking in the Nyx editor.
(this implies some work on the part of the admins or whoever is responsible for maintaining the editor, but would save a lot of work for a lot of authors, as well as help improve all of their work)

Re: Tease Turnoffs
One thing which turns me off is writers using ugly words like cum and ass. What is wrong with the correct terms: come and arse? Even if we don't know our arse from our elbow, we do know our posterior from our dumb equine quadruped and when someone asks me to kiss their donkey it sure does ruin the mood!!

Don't knock it if you haven't tried it!

Re: Tease Turnoffs
Well, "cum" I can somewhat understand some people finding "ugly", but ass? Ass isn't, as far as I know, an ugly version of arse. They are two completely different words for the same thing.
Whereas cum is more or less just dirty slang, but far too incorporated into people's habits to avoid at this point I'm afraid.
