Tease of the Month, June 2010
Re: Tease of the Month, June 2010
It's an honor to be nominated for this.
Sorry to hear you have been sick, Indy. Hope you are feeling or start to feel better soon.

Hi There!
I am very happy to be nominated for the TOTM as well.
This was the third tease in my "Patty Heaton" trilogy. -In fact, it's the third tease I've ever done.
(I'm a real beginner here.)
Best of luck to all.

Peckersnot, your tease was awesome. If I had 10 votes, five of them would have been for yours.

Several really great teases to choose from for June. This is probably one of the tougher choices I've made for TOTM!

Re: Tease of the Month, June 2010
I'm guessing that the three second place teases (Your Investigation Begins, Gina Wants You to Suffer, and Your Dick Makes You Pay) are leaching votes from each other. In other words, if only one of those three teases were in the running that tease would win hands down...but since they are competing against each other, none of them can win. Could the voting system be altered to allow voters to rank the contestants instead of just having to vote for one?

Initially I thought "that's just the way it goes, and it should be honor enough just to be nominated" but you know, I think Wonderbo is right. Different sorts of teases appeal to different people, and I think the one currently in the lead is sufficiently different from the others as to garner all the votes from certain blocs, while all four of the others, not just the three vying for second place, are having to split their votes. So ironically, the majority of people voting may not have found the first place winner appealing.wonderbo wrote:I'm guessing that the three second place teases (Your Investigation Begins, Gina Wants You to Suffer, and Your Dick Makes You Pay) are leaching votes from each other. I know it would probably just make things more complicated, I just felt like bitching about something.
Hopefully, everyone understands I mean no offense to the leader, since it's still obviously better than any of my teases, lol...

So, Peckersnot, did you arrange for more federal funding for Acorn or what?

Yeah, that was weird...two votes...then it shot ahead of everyone.storydejour wrote:So, Peckersnot, did you arrange for more federal funding for Acorn or what?
Re: Tease of the Month, June 2010
I investigated the issue and the vote was indeed manipulated. Somebody spent 2010-07-24 17:07:10 - 23:33:08 to create 23 new accounts and then voting for this tease. Now, I don't have any proof whether this was done with the consent of the author or not, so I won't disqualify this time. I've added some new logging routines, so if the individual votes again, we'll know more.
The fraudulent votes have been subtracted, the accounts deleted and the corresponding email addresses banned. So if it indeed took that person six hours (with breaks) to do, perhaps they can take comfort in the fact that they wasted only about five minutes of my time.
When I started the TOTM I was worried that people wouldn't want it enough, since there is no trophy, no prize money, etc. Now it seems, there are some who want it too much.
I'd just like you all to consider that a moral award like the TOTM can only be won morally. If you'd cheat to get a Ferrari, fine, but why on earth would you cheat to get something where the only value is your knowledge that you have genuinely earned it.
Finally I want to say again that right now, there is some chance the manipulation was not done by the author, but rather, by enemies of the author in order to get him or her disqualified. Nobody should ever be punished on suspicion alone.

Just my luck, after my incriminating statement, and I have no alibi for that period of time. (Well, I was in Vegas, and you know what they say about what happens in Vegas.)
Fortunately I can fall back on the defense of lacking the knowledge required to do something like that, and the fact I'm on dialup. Accomplishing that much in that period of time would be impossible for me.
