Anyone using timelock need help

Post by sub3604 »

Hi I am wanting to use the timelock program

see here http://timelock.rules.it/

to keep myself locked up for a period of time but am having a problem with the software I cannot get the program to successfully get the time from the net so the PC needs to be on in order for the timer to count down.

Now I am only using the trial at the min because I am still waiting for a reply with the activation for the full version but am am intending for a ramdom lock up of between 1 day and 6 weeks with a 12-24 hour penalty for looking at the timer. So leaving the PC on all that time is not a option.

I was hoping someone would either have a working time server and port number or be able to tell me how to get it working.

thanks

Also make sure that your firewall is not blocking the software.

No I tried picture lock it, It is by far inferior and if you advance your computer clock it unlocks the file so is a bit rubbish in times of weakness. I will try those servers when the time has run out not sure when it will be maybe sunday. There is 21 hours 13 minutes left till decryption but it only counts down when the PC is turned on and the program is running. But I am not messing around until then as I am locked in and don't want to lose the file.

well thats called a failsafe... lets say a spider crawls inside you tube (had a nightmare about that some time back) or you cock for some reson begins to turn blue.... then you whould be glad that you can advance the computers clock :-)

there is a failsafe in timelock too (that u can ignore and dont turn on)
but imo you should allways have a way out in case something goes wrong

If something went wrong that needed immediate removal of the device cutting the plastic locking pin wouldn't be that hard but would destroy the device at least until a new pin was purchased (not sure if you can even buy them) But it is something I wouldn't do unless it really had to come off.

but advancing the clock is very easy to do you might as well not bother encrypting the file and just not look at it or leave the key on the shelf and not use it. At least if you have to destroy at least part of the device to remove it there are consequences to removal. They are not exactly cheap
