striker or stroker
striker or stroker
Do not know if any one else noticed but while watching the US vs UK game (which was quote exciting ) the British announcer referred to Rooney as the stroker before correcting himself to say the striker lOL

US vs Uk??? Never heard of a UK football team before, maybe you were thinking of the USA vs England game on Saturday evening?
As for Rooney, well he can be a bit of a stupid stroker at times. Not as bad as that calamity keeper Green

Also watched that game. Was looking for the Union Jack flag. Then I remembered that the UK and England are not the same entity.
U.S. was lucky to come away with a tie. It was a tie not because the U.S. played well but because England played poorly. British tabloids had it right about England's goaltender Robert Green calling him the "Hand of Clod."
U.S. is going to get smoked like a cheap cigar if they play the same way against Slovenia.

You think USA are going to have trouble with lowly Slovenia? I agree with the fact that USA were lucky that England played so poorly, but to say that the USA won't overcome Slovenia easily seems a bit silly to me. It's clear that England and the USA are the two teams that are going to qualify from this group.
I don't mean to offend just my opinion.

You're not offending anyone. Slovenia may be lowly by European soccer standards but they're playing the U.S. who isn't exactly known for its soccer prowess. Do I hope the U.S. will win? Of course. However, being old and cynical I don't have high expectations for the U.S. team. In addition, Slovenia beat Algeria. Algeria may not be a soccer powerhouse but a win is a win at the World Cup level.
I'll use this analogy. Currently living in Europe (Germany), there are at least two things things the Europeans do better than the Americans - beer and coffee. While American beer is improving there are more bad beers than good beers. In Europe, even a bad beer is pretty good compared to a good American beer. The same goes for coffee. U.S coffee is awful compared to European coffee. I'm surprised Starbucks can even compete in Europe. Given a choice, I'll take European coffee over Starbucks.
That may make no sense so I'll blame it on the Hefeweizen beers and shot of Jameson whiskey.
Slovenia may have a weak soccer team by European standards but the U.S. is just as weak if not weaker than Slovenia by World Cup standards.

I think you are doing yourself down a bit there masterstroke US are rated 14th in the world they have world class keepers and quite a few other stars too like donovan and onyewu (u dont play for AC Milan if ur crap haha) algeria are rated 30 slovenia 25th by the way
and in terms of Wags you compete well too !

i think the starbucks thing is more to do with their aggressive tactics, rather than product quality; ie setting up two in the same area as a smaller coffee shop until they kill off their competition
anyways enjoy the world cup if not those bloody horns !
ooh also we did used to have union jacks at the world cup but they seem to have faded out in recent years i think mainly due to jealousy from the lesser nations haha also its important to stress they didnt make the world cup and we did

Thank you for the soccer education. No one is going to accuse me of being a soccer aficionado.
I agree with you; get rid of the horns. To me those horns sound like the buzzing of bees.
Enjoyed the photo also.

Re: striker or stroker
Well, clearly the tie was due largely to England's botched block. But the USA has bee getting better at "The Beautiful Game" over the last few years.
Also, suck it England.
