tube8 and a few other sites vs. Firefox web browser

Post by janmb »

Anyone else having issues with tube8 using firefox?

I'm using the very latest version (3.6.3) and with the very latest version of Adobe Flash Player (installed properly and including the mozilla plugin). Yet it still claims I need the latest flash player, directing me to the very same download page on adobe.com I just used myself.

Using IE8 with the latest flash player works fine, so seems they have a problem with firefox in one way or another. This pertains only SOME sites, such as tube8 (and redtube if I remember correctly), most sites work just fine.

Anyone else having similar issues, or better yet; have found solutions to it (better than having to resort to IE)?
Yes, I most certainly CAN do it again!

I've noticed that a couple of times, myself. BE CAREFUL!!! The file that these sites are trying to dl to you is most likely a Trojan horse program.. Recall, that in FF/Internet Explorer/Chrome when an add-in is not working right or needs installed, there is a "install" bar/message that comes up under the address bar. (typically).

In this case it takes you to the official adobe site so no worries there.

But in either case annoying that they don't correctly detect that the extension is already installed.

Have just checked working OK
Used to have a problem occasionally when multiple tabs open.
Then noticed firefox using huge amounts of memory.
Installed flash block which stops all flash until I click to play or show.
Everything fine now

Hope this helps

sounds very much like my own setup...

I run flashblock too, complete necessity on all video sites to suppress flash ads

I always have many tabs up tho, will try with single.
