I second the "resize the browser window" suggestion.
The ads are a one-time, fixed-price run of one month. After that we'll see what we learned and I'll definitely take your feedback on board. Right now we needed the cash to pay our accounting bills, but next time around we'll negotiate harder and if we can't get a good deal, the ads will be gone.
I've been thinking about other solutions - I could see a feature that anybody who's authored a tease with a rating > 3 gets the ability to turn off the ads. We've also talked before about a sponsorship feature where you can pay something like 5$/year and get a [sponsor] tag to show you support the site. Obviously that would also come with complete ad-freedom.
We're absolutely not interested in "maximizing profits" as far as Milovana.com is concerned. Our general strategy is to keep Milovana.com free and start other premium projects that we can launch through this site. In the meantime however we have to make some money through Milovana just to keep it running.
In conclusion: For the next month the ads are paid for, so we can't turn them off on webtease pages or make an exception for authors. After that though - if we keep them at all, we'll make sure that we offer ways to get rid of them for anyone who's bothered by them.
I'm also absolutely open for suggestions if you have ideas for other less intrusive ways to raise money.
