Introducing Kerigan? Whats the point of this

Post by MoneyMan07 »

So... yeah. What is the point of posting this? Its the first teased ever created and its already in the classics as literally the #1 first tease. And its litereally a word for word copy of it. So I beg the question of WTF?

i have to agree lol, i can't really see any need to repost this tease into the amazing new generation of webteases apart from the nostalgia value.
webtease requests? msg me here first then add me to msn, [email protected] (e-mail doesn't work so don't e-mail that address)

it seems to be a slightly adjusted version of the original tease..

as pointless as you might think it is i'm not sure how appropriate it is to start a thread saying 'what's the point' of something.. seems a bit unfair, it wasn't done out of malice...

um... its the exact tease word for word apart from the last page. Thats not really adjusted and I don't see the point of trying to post it as your own work. Creating another page with a system error for a picture and some text doesn't make it your own tease.

I'm also not happy about this. There is no need to repost old teases. However, I want to point out that angusobrian might actually be the original author of the tease. At least he is a name I recognize from way back. :-)

Should we delete it or just wait until it disappears in the depths of the database? Let me know what you guys think.

Take it off

Post by addictlion »

If it is exact it should be taken off. However, for teases or series that are incomplete I think it should be okay if they are completed or finished or even added on too. An example would be the "Its All About Choices" tease in the classics section. There was only two even though there are supposed to be more.

Also what if there are newer i.e. "more attractive" picture used would this be allowed?

Hmmm

I'm torn. On one hand, it's not hurting anybody.

But this site is very open to abuse. Just earlier today I found a weird spammy post with incest porn. It was really creepy and I deleted it. I think it might be a good idea to have some kind of rules of conduct.

I mean, is it permissible to post or publish absolutely anything? I think there's some limits we would all agree upon, like no child pornography. And another limit could be no plagiarism.

Though, if this is the original author, I guess he has a right to update his work.

Well, I'm glad I could help muddle the issue ...

I think first we should hear what the author has to say about. In this moment I would say delete it.

Acutally, I am not the original writer and I didn't think of looking for it in the classics. Sorry, there are lots of classics which stick out and this isn't one of them.

I added a couple of things at certain pages as far as edging and a punishment or two. My thought was to try and preserve the webteases from other sites that may go out of existance at any moment, such as mybdsm.com and dominant-mistress.com. While preserving them, I was going to attempt to update some of the parts of them to make them flow better in the "current gen" of webteases. I thought people might enjoy it without having to hunt down a bunch of different sites.

Since it is pissing a bunch of people off, I won't bother and pull this one down. I will also delete others that I have been working on archiving from other sites. Lurking is easier, and with people like Mz_Teneale & SubMatt that are good with making new teases there will never be an end of content on this site.

Please don't be too disappointed. Thanks for the help. The problem is, you can't take teases from other websites, even if they are dead. We got the rights from OD.com to host the classics, but we don't have arrangements with the sites you mentioned. In this case it wasn't a problem because the tease was also on OD.com. :-)

Man, I can understand that you're disappointed right now. But you better take that back. If Tenny and submatt would have thought like that when they started out, we would've missed a ton of good teases. Nobody ever comes to this site and goes "Oh, I'm a really good webtease author, so I'll write one right away!" Every single author started out as "I'll probably suck at this, but let me give it a shot." And that's the kind of thinking we need. Lurking may be easier, but writing your very own webtease and getting good ratings on it is way better. :-D

But again, I really, really appreciate that you tried to help. That's exactly the right spirit and I'm sorry it didn't work out. Please don't give up? :look:

And another thing

Post by submatt »

Plus, if you appreciate my teases, the best way to pay me back is to write your own.

So, don't go all lurker just because you stirred up controversy. I think people were more confused about why it was there than anything else.

hey the first tease i wrote was rubbish lol, only you get better over time. Personally i don't think their going to go out of existence i occasional go back through the classics when there isn't any new content but i don't see much point in reposting something that has already been posted.
