Re: Does canning live permenant marks?
Absolutely not.
All a caning (or any corporeal punishment for that matter) does is raise welts.
The blow itself breaks down the barriers between the cells, allowing a surplus of blood to rush in, and thus produce welts. The body then goes on to reproduce the damaged cells.
Short version .......Ever hit your thumb with a hammer?
Same thing, only the location is different.
Theoretically, if you got your ass hammered to a bloody pulp each and every day, you *might* develop callouses, but that scenario is so far out there as to be ludicrous.
As to how long it takes to heal, that varies from person to person.
Last caning I had left a sting for something like 48 hours, and the marks were gone within 6-7 days.
Now that admittedly wasn't something like OWK punishments, since I'm not too keen on drawing blood, but under normal circumstances, and given average health, marks should be gone in a week or so at the most.
Cheerfully.

Ooops.....
Forgot the last part.
As to medicine to speed up the healing process.
Well, given the timeframe of a week, any medicine wouldn't really have time to do anything beneficial.
If you're *really* worried, you could use some sort of Vitamin-E salve (I use it to help my tattooes to heal), but as I said, the timeframe is so short that it honestly isn't worth the bother.
Besides, I kinda like the marks, and am usually in no hurry to lose them.
But then, that's just me.

Ïndigo:
Nothing to worry about.
On an average day, the "stupid" bit isn't too far off the mark.

Look on the bright side.
Having ones ass canned might mean it keeps fresh longer
