Just a suggestion

Post by Mz_Teneale »

Hey there,

I have a suggestion which is really just my opinion on how something should be. So let me know if there is a good reason for being the way it is.

Now, when i log on to the site it comes up with how many teases were created and how many replies were posted. Which is great, i love that. But, once you have viewed all those etc, the information stays up (eg. 23 posts, 2 teases etc). I was thinking maybe there should be a way to clear the info? I tried refresh but it doesnt work. As it stands, i exit the browser, and go to my favourites and bring up Milovana again so that the info is cleared. Because as i refresh the page alot, i find it very useful to know what has been done while i havnt been looking at the site... Understand? :-P And yes, i can count. So when there is one new post i just add one to the number thats already there... But thats not the point! :-D
Also, when i write a post or a tease, it tells me that. Why do i need to know? Im the one who wrote the dammed thing :-O

I have a technical issue aswell. I am not sure if this is my computers' fault or the sites'. But every time i bring up the milovana homepage on my browser for the first time, my computer kind of freezes for 5 or 6 seconds and i cant do anything. It only happens with milovana and its not a big deal, just its a little annoying that i have to wait while my computer decides to get going again.

Thanks! Sorry for being so pedantic, i guess im just nagging like a girls' supposed to huh?

You can see every new post in the forum if you refresh the forum. I know that is not what you mean but for me it works fine this way. Maybe seraph0x could code the live-box that it's refreshing every 5 minutes. But if I am honest I don't think this is necessary.

About your other problem: Damn that's strange. Maybe it's your browser but I have no idea, to be honest.

edit: uhm I don't know what happened but I had the same problem. I already thaught the site is down but 10 seconds later it appeared. Maybe it's our host. I don't know, but we had such problems in the past so I think it's our host.

But now all is fine and fast again. Do you have this problem everytime you visit milovana?

Sure, I'll make you a reset button. :-)

Two possible causes. Either latency is too high because you're halfway around the globe from our server or your client is having performance trouble with the JavaScript.

If it's the former you can't do much. You'll have to wait until we have enough money to have more than one server. If it's the latter: Try using Firefox if you aren't already. Try cleaning up your computer.

Your case sounds like a network hiccup. That can happen anytime anywhere between any two points in a network and normally you wouldn't even mention it. ;-)

Regarding performance:

Yes, we had trouble in the past, but right now Milovana is one of the fastest sites in Europe.

I actually use Milovana when I need to convince clients to host their sites with my hosting company. If you have a fast enough Internet connection (and you are in Europe), our site loads 4 times faster than myspace.com and 15 times faster than YouTube.com. If you have visited it before it (so you have all the pictures cached) it even rivals google.com at 430 ms total load time. So no guys, if you're having performance trouble it definitely, definitely isn't on our part at the moment. :-P

Ok, from now on you can visit this page to reset the counter for new stuff:

http://www.milovana.com/forum/resetlastvisit.php

Maybe make it a bookmark so you got it handy. I'm not sure if I'll link it on the page. Is anyone else interested in this? Where do you think we should put the link?

Thanks Phoxy.

To answer your question about where it should go if you were to implement it. I was thinking maybe like a refresh button next to where all this information appears

The space there is quite scarce. Hmm. Maybe just an icon? What would symbolize the "reset" best?

There you go, little green refresh icon will do it when you're on the front page. :-)

Lol  Yes maybe he his!

But I don't think so. I also think that this competition is above my limits. To post a public picture of doing humiliating things is very tough.
