My experience is: Producing precum really takes it's time and some stimulation. When I get wetter and wetter finally some drops fall to the floor (usually without me even noticing). This is only the slimy substance, that makes you wet.
Ruined orgasms are more complicated. The technique commonly described is to stroke over the edge and stop immediately. If I do that, I have an orgasm but its not as satisfying as doing a couple more strokes until the orgasm is over. I also get horny again quite soon.
After a lot of edging and possibly some days of denial it can happen, that I really eject cum without experiencing an orgasm. The cum just flows out at some point, its not pressed out. You could call that a "real ruined orgasm", but I don't think, that's the common meaning.

There's a good description on the Urge. It fits your "real ruined orgasm". Hard to achieve but, like you say, easier with a lot of edging and a few days of denial.

Just once recently (within the last 6 mths) did I ever produce a lot of precum, neither before (that I can recall) nor since I have produced any.
