PMs spending ages in Outbox and not being sent

I'm having an issue where I'm trying to PM someone. But my messages are sitting in my out of for weeks at a time, and not being sent. I don't know why this happens or what to do. Please help. Thanks

Probably that the recipient has not read it. After they open it, it goes to your sent folder

I confirm this - it depends who you send pm to, if they do not log in and open the message it stays in your outbox.

Thank you! That makes things much more clear - it seemed very arbitrary as sometimes it would seem to send almost immediately, where I would get a reply the next day, and sometimes would take weeks.
