[FEEDBACK] DominatR Chapter 2 - A Matching App tease

There's a new sequel to the TOTM Nominated DominatR, which incorporates a lot of what I learned in that first tease. This version is slightly less random, and relies less on complex branching logic. Like the original DominatR, there are lots of choices, and dommes who will remember that they played with you before when you come back for more. There are also some new twists in the app to keep things interesting.

This is more complete than DominatR was when launched, so hopefully the only updates here will be bugfixes or storyline tweaks for your existing matches.

I look forward to hearing your feedback. I'm taking what I learned from these first two teases to build more of a "template" to be used for future matching app teases, and hope to share a guide for creating your own matching app tease soon.

Hey I like the tease a lot but I got one problem at Act 3 there is a match where I only get the whip logo and the RAM is ramping up to 6GB don't know why it is happening but maybe you should look in it.

Good catch - there was an edge case where if you skipped all available matches it would get stuck repeatedly skipping a potential match you haven't unlocked yet. Should be fixed now.

Lovely game! Is there a trick to get the "Admin" code at the beginning, or is that an actual admin code for debugging?

It's possible to unlock admin mode through the story but that's more of an Easter egg. It's mostly there for debugging

Initially I thought this tease was a major downgrade over V1, but I have really seen the value in replaying and unlocking the full story and options. Would highly recommend others to give it multiple playthroughs and try more options. Excellent work.

One of my realizations about the first tease was that it was too random and this weakened replays, so the second was intended to be much more structured to reward replays. I'm not surprised you had this experience - but I would be curious to hear a description of your first session (in spoiler tags) and why you thought it was a downgrade.

I could keep churning out carbon copies of the original, but I'd rather explore different approaches. That means not everything will be everybody's cup of tea, but that's fine by me.

Chapter 3 is going to be MUCH different, with most users supporting multiple matches. This should be the best replay value yet.

Chapter 1: this was mostly random, but with a chance to hook into a few "scripted" sequences that would usually lead to the end of the tease
Chapter 2: this used a three-act structure, with different sets of possible random matches in each act.
Chapter 3: will use an entirely different matching mechanism that allows most users to be matched more than once. The vast majority of the tease will be some sort of story, but with fewer chaotic dependencies between the different users.

Part of what I liked about chapter 1 is that it was random and you really didn't know what you were going to get. Chapter 2 felt like it ended quite quickly (on the first play) but then as you play more, more options opened up. The admin option when unlocked, was a nice touch to help skip to specific endings.

Looking forward to seeing Chapter 3 when it does come out.

thanks for the great tease and gz for getting a deserved totm.
I really like the concept (you "stole" from shattered :D) and especially when matches influence other matches (and its clear for the user). I would like it if it could be easier to see all/most of the content tho, e.g. skipping act-1 when everything was already completed in a previous session, a display that you fully completed a match. I used my extension to read the rest after 2-3 session, but would have liked to experience it. Was overall a great experience without notable errors.

• The variable sent_to_nici is never set. (But the next option could lead to "Start", so I'm not sure if that is intended)

Thanks! TOTM on the tiebreaker was a nice surprise. There was some 'stiff' competition this month.

The matches influencing each other are difficult to get right without bugs so I might have fewer of them in Chapter 3, but they are the most fun to write. I'm also running out of ideas for this sort of plot progression

This is difficult for me for testing too - it's hard to make sure I've tried all the different branches. I've massively changed the way Chapter 3 works to ensure that storylines remember progress between plays and it's easier to find users whose stories you haven't finished yet (with an exception for some "simple matches" just to have some filler content in later sessions.)

For what it's worth, there IS a way to skip Act 1/2 if you can unlock admin mode. That can be done in the story, or I shared the code in this thread under a spoiler tag.

Jasmine and Nici's tags are intentional

the vibrator is supposed to make you THINK something anal is coming. I generally like to put a few users whose tags are a misdirection. Through both teases so far, Nici has been my wildcard to keep users on their toes with plot twists and weird stuff, so her tags are intentionally vague too.

The unused variable was a bug and I (think I) fixed it.
