Webtease Plagiarism

Post by Cirelle »

Hello,

I apologize if this is the wrong category for this post, I will repost in the appropriate category if I have to.

Anyways, I noticed that someone has been posting webteases that are copies of one of mine. I think they may have gotten access to the code and just copied it somehow without my permission. I normally wouldn't mind this, except I noticed that their recent webtease includes a link to their venmo, which just rubbed me the wrong way, since the original inspiration for their webtease is not their own. I have tried contacting the report email about this but never received a response.

Here's the link to the first offending webtease: https://milovana.com/webteases/showtease.php?id=65825

And their second which includes their venmo link: https://milovana.com/webteases/showtease.php?id=70606

And here's my original: https://milovana.com/webteases/showtease.php?id=51322

I don't know if there are rules for this kind of thing here but just wanted to bring this up since it was bugging me.

Thanks for reading.

While I can understand your concern, there are enough changes in the tease from a user's POV that I think its different. Plenty of people will take an existing tease, change out some things & then post it as their own. While I would prefer when this happens that they acknowledge their source, if the game isn't identical (new pics & options) then its new. Also there are a lot of changes in their 2nd tease that justify adding a venmo if you want to support his efforts. @hornyjuan23 is responsive to messages too, as I sent him something about his v2 tease a bit ago & he DM'd me back.

Now, if he was to take this tease, lock parts of it behind a paywall AND make you pay for it before being able to play, I would say you have an argument. But right now, I think you're overreacting. An the end of the day, I applaud the creators & while some can monetize things, it's going to be at best 'buy a coffee' level response.

You said "I have tried contacting the report email about this", but have you tried contacting the user that used your material?

Like tkct78 I would suggest you do that, and politely express your concerns, and ask that you at least be credited as inspiration.

It's pretty easy to copy the code of of a webtease and make your own from it, but I agree it's bad form to do so without at least crediting the original author.

Just want to mention that I agree this is pretty much directly taken from the original, like the original was a "template" and he just reworded some of the dialogue. I dont think thats necessarily a violation but it would be better form to credit you and your tease. Echoing that it's probably better to work it out directly with the author.

As far as I see, the tease is basically a simple loop showing pictures and some very simple logic around it like counting edges etc and at some point allowing you to cum. He selected different pictures and adapted the teases slightly. There are many similar teases like this and as it is very basic, I would say there isn't much to plagiarize. Yeah, he might have taken your code, but it would not take much to just rebuild this yourself. So I think from a technical perspective, there is really nothing to protect in terms of copyright, and content wise, well there is basically no story telling or meaningful dialog and the pictures have been changed and neither of you probably owns the pictures.

If someone would really copy a complex tease with complex programming or writing and then even ask for money, I would argue for that to be deleted and the user warned, but in this case I think it is fine.
