How to download game in Guide me format?

As the title says, looking for how to save a game to my desktop to run in the Guide me program.

I have downloaded other peoples uploads before but I can't find one I am looking for so gotta do it myself.

Either instuctions on how to do it -or- if someone experienced wants to do it and put un megaupload or something the URL is https://milovana.com/webteases/showtease.php?id=8342

EDIT: I got time to look at this and got the tease downloaded and updated. See my next post below.

I tried a quick download of that tease and it generated 22 errors. At almost 1700 pages, and 1400 media files that's the longest and largest of the old flash teases I've encountered so far. It's still downloading as I type this.

A number of the pages specify multiple images for the page, which is not supported in GuideMe, or the current downloader version. It may work, but those pages will only show one image. No idea what the impact of that will be when doing the tease. Unfortunately I do not have time to investigate further at the moment, but will over the next few days, mostly out of curiosity. So no guarantees.

If you download the tease you may want to edit the XML file and change the

Code: Select all

  <ForceStartPage>true</ForceStartPage>

to

Code: Select all

  <ForceStartPage>false</ForceStartPage>

so you can close the tease and continue where you left off later.

So, I got time to download this tease and look into the issues, and long story short I got it converted, and here it is:

There were two main issues.

• Pages 1516 to 1519 used an image link instead of a picture, meant to display a youtube video inline. Most of those videos are probably no longer available. I coded the url's into the page, so if you land there you can try opening the link in a browser.
• A bunch of pages were using two images. A primary image on the left, and another on the right showing the result of a dice roll. I added some special code to handle the pages that were displaying multiple images so it should look pretty much like it would have online in the old flash player.

Beyond that it seemed to convert cleanly and should work fine.

If I'm not mistaken it looks like your zip has all the pics and mp3s but misses the xml file.

Can confirm no XML file but I got the pictures.
That EOS downloader is a great tool, thanks for that link. Seems I missed that.

I started downloading it fresh from EOS, got the orignal XML, cancelled the download, dragged the original XML to the right place in the the guide me folder but the pictures from the mega download would not show.
Deleted everything and redownloaded with EOS. Got it working now but if there are errors in the original I know nothing about computer code to fix it.

I SEE the " <!-- Error: Unrecognized Media element nyx.text --> " on the mentioned pages but have no idea what to do to fix it.

I thought I had both the folder and xml file selected when I created the zip, but failed to check my work.

I've updated the mega upload, and the link in my previous post, and have attached a zip of the xml file here for those who had already downloaded the "bad" archive.

The XML file alone would not let the pictures show but another download of the whole think from updated mega link got it working.

I can see the difference in the XML for the error vs the youtube links.

The youtube accounts have been suspeneded but I can see how to replace the youtube for any link I want. Just drop some link from for Xvid or PH in there or something.

Ah, you may have needed to update the MediaDirectory setting in the XML file to match how you downloaded it originally. If I downloaded the tease with the "add by author name" option selected, and you did not, the MediaDirectory setting would have been incorrect.

I didn't think to note that. I'm so used to adjusting those things that I mostly assume people using GuideMe and the downloader are familiar with how those settings work, but I'll keep that in mind for the future.
