Yes, this converts funscript to estim audio in realtime.

If you follow the instructions on the wiki, you can add restim as an output in MFP. I currently use that for video sync. I haven't used VAM, but it looks like it should just work.

I'm not sure if it's possible to set up the axis correctly, since both busdriver and restim use L0/L1... let me know if you run into problems there.

Oh I was not aware that MFP syncs with players... I thought it is player itself... now that I see it can use HereSphere I am going to give it and restim a try!

Only thing it is missing then is option for playing mp3 files in sync instead of funscript.

I think that if you make it clear to yoooi0 that this is an important feature for you, he will add it quite fast.

Why would you need MP3's this converts funscripts to audio for your estim device. They're just taking up valuable HD space. Unless of course you've got old favourites you just simply cant let go of.

Because of numberonefan, Rillo, digitalparkinglot... they make releases with mp3 files, which are never pure funscript converts, either they are dual channel, they make custom triphases, or they spice converts up with some effects. And their releases are much more interesting than simple pov videos with funscript.

So I thought I'd give this a whirl. Please bear in mind I've just bought a new (second hand) PC so I had to start from scratch, hell I didn't even have a web browser on it. Also, I'd never used Multifun Player, or MPV Player... nor Restim...

So after several hours of downloading unpacking, installing, copying...files, scripts, videos, drivers, installers, and the kitchen sink... I got Multifun Player up and running.. managed to get MPV player connected.. I got Restim up and running... and managed to get it to output to my pc headphones...then i just needed all that stuff to talk to each other... when i started I literally had an erection just with the anticipation... after about 3 hrs... I was losing the will to live... nevermind my erection....

But finally... Restim connected to Multifun player... and as if by magic (or clever coding) I could see the green dot bouncing around in sync with the funscript... i knew i was close... I slipped on my CR loops and swtiched on my little £6 audio amp... holy fuck it was like rediscovering estim all over again.... really, really delicious.. smooth stroking sensations... all over my lower half... I made it through the CH vid I was playing... but swiuthced to a regular scene.. one of my favourites... lasted about 10mins... before i nearly took my left eye out...

Serisouls good work... absolute game changer.... If I can assist in way... I'm not a coder but I am a designer... I can look at the UI for you (and MFP) as well and make some reccos for a more 'user friendly interface.. just let me know...

Next up... to integrate with VAM and Yoooi's ToySerialController for an interactive and voice activated experience...

Really well done.

Yeah.. totally get that... I've tried some of their files.. they're excellent... but you have CHPlayer for that.. it works brilliantly. Although the ability to tweak the settings in this software are amazing.

Haven't even tried it, as ScriptPlayer does it for me, only thing missing is ability to specify a convention for file naming. It only loads mp3 with same file name as video file, but it would be great if it would allow filename-{something}.mp3, and you would get a dropdown to change to one of files while video is playing.

Right now I am using workaround of having multiple copies of same video file with different names (i.e. -dual and -triphase) but since files are large I mostly create symlink on file system (fake copy). The problem is if you are backing up the files or moving/copying them, they get copied to real copy that takes up additional disk space.

Hi Niceguy, Ditto on installing MFP. I had the same "relearning" experience. If anyone comes across good detailed instructions or tutorials on the MFP installation process, I'd appreciate it.
Definitely agree on "rediscovering estim all over again". I had the same feeling as you, that diglet, fileflax, edger, et al were really onto something big. I enjoyed the lively discussion, brain storming, and diglet's original work with restim. I encourage the estim community to give restim a workout. K

Hi Diglet,

Thank you for this software, it works brilliantly with Video.

I am trying to get it to connect with VAM. I'm not clear if i need to use MFP at all TBH. I think it may be oossivle to connect Restim directly to VAM.

I'm using Yoooi's plugin for VAM which does output Tcode via UDP. But I'm not sure what settings to put into the plugin to connect it with Restim. Its asking for and address and port. I tried ws://localhost:12346/ but I'm getting an 'invalid IP address'.

Can you advise?

Niceguy.

on that screen I can see address and port

try localhost in address an 12346 in port

Regarding legacy mp3 files, one of the goals of restim is to be able to generate all useful signals via funscript. So in theory, it should be possible to reverse existing mp3 into funscript and play them with restim. But this is more complicated than anticipated.

Restim uses websocket, not udp/tcp.

I'm not sure how VAM works. I was under the impression that VAM accepts input from MFP, which makes the models move according to the instructions in the funscript. If that's the case, it's trivial to use two outputs in MFP: one to restim and one to VAM. Is that now how it works?

Another option is that VAM generates the movements on it's own, and the VAM plugin collects those movements and sends it to a UDP/TCP target. Is that how it works? If so, you don't need MFP, but I will need to update restim to add an TCP/UDP server.

There are two plugins from Yoooi. ToySerialController which takes the action in the scene and spits out the tcode. This is the screenshot that you can see. Which is asking for a dress and port. The other plug-in is called BusDriver and works in the opposite way.. it’s connect MFP and loaded script and sends the code to VAM to control the model in the scene. This sounds like fun… but is a bit like watching a video… albeit using graphics. The first option is the most desirable as you can control the model in the scene and vam outputs the correct code… this allows for much more interactivity as the code is generated on the fly. If you need to update Restim is that difficult to do? Is it a minor task? (Holds breath).

... I think you should let this one go :)

One thing is to reverse-generate a triphase file, but they add tremolo to only one side, or ramp to one side, or make changes to volume that differ from each other. Sometimes not even create file from triphase. These things cannot be saved into funscript, you would need a new file format to describe it.

@NiceGuy Relatively minor task. I'll have it ready tonight.

@edger477 none of those things seem impossible. Tremolo on one side is just a high-frequency movement of the position, as long as the tremolo is below ~30hz this is already possible. Ramp to one side is a low-frequency movement of the position and volume, that's easy.

The main problem is that the existing mp3's have a lot of high frequency (>50hz) components that *I think* you should not be able to feel, I want to isolate the signal that you can feel and encode that into funscript, but this conversion is very difficult.

The goal isn't really to reverse the existing mp3's, but more to make sure that digitalparkinglot & co can generate all sensations they want with a small collection of funscripts. If DPL's mp3's are much better than what can be generated with restim, then I take that as a sign that I'm missing important features.
