The new version of Hero Corruption is out.

Hero Corruption v1.40b

Changes:

ADDED A CONSUMABLES PAGE TO THE HERO UPGRADE MENU

  • You can now buy Maps before starting a new run

  • It is only possible to buy a single starting area map (Forest or Grove)
  • The other map will be unlocked normally (and for free) at the beginning of the run

NEW ENEMIES

  • Molly(Lakeside): Watch out ! I've heard that Molly has a really strong grip
  • Becca(Lakeside)(Boss): She also brought her own toys, but they're not here to replace you

While holding the Talisman, Molly HP increases by +40
While holding the Talisman, Molly deal 2.5x damage (Instead of 2x)

Fixed Mia increasing the player's damage

You can now see the amount of items you're carring while shopping at the Blacksmith
Increase the odds of finding the Alchemist event after meeting her

The Hero may get confused again while facing Bea (30% chance)
Decreased Bea's HP 300 > 260 (N) // 260 > 240 (L)
Increased Maxine's Base HP 120 > 150

Molly's charms only trigger when the Hero's addictions are 10 or above, so maybe you should think twice before facing her if both addictions met this condition

Bug report:

After finding an "ancient blade" three times in a row at the Grove there was only one in the inventory.

Did you managed to equip the blade before finding it a second or third time? If so, did the sword ever break?

It seems there was interest in seeing people's scores, so here's an example playthrough of the latest version in normal mode, up to beating the castle :)

Game 1: oops, bad math on Kitty (forgot about the half damage in the second part), early loss. 95 points.
Game 2: 740 points, could probably have gotten most of the way through the castle (but likely not all the way), unfortunately had bad RNG on the dark woods ghost mob and ran out of time.
Game 3: 1108, beat the castle. Used ice pick as weapon, it's actually very legit!

there are several ways to manipulate the save system that allow you to either money exploit or points exploit. Not a huge deal but FYI in case you weren't aware of it. Only a scoundrel would rely on such methods though, the above playthrough is certified clean :-)

You managed to defeat the Castle in very few runs, Errant, congratulations!

Although sometimes I think the icepick is a little too op, I've thought several times about nerfing it to 10% :-P

Have you messed with the map fragment requirements for Castle? I haven't beaten Kira yet, but I can explore to castle.

Second playthrough on a normal, the bosses were different between the two runs - maybe you're adding someone else as Kira's fragment for some reason?

Thank you! I've had many versions to optimize strategy :)

I think it's quite feasible to beat the castle in 2 runs, with a little luck (especially early scarecrow or a good endgame weapon). 1 run is... theoretically possible but would require quite strong luck :-)

As for the ice pick, at first I didn't really think about it, but then some rough math made me realize that it is indeed very strong! Especially for the castle which has relatively long fights, you have more time to average out the rolls. I think 10% chance would probably be too weak, but 15% might be reasonable. Always happy to theory-craft further if you're interested in discussing.

Great Content! I am more of the find the bad ending type guy and seem to have find every bad end except for Alice. How is that triggered? I had every Addiction at 50 and still nothing :rolleyes: .

I'm always interested in hearing suggestions that might shake up the meta like this one.
I'll change the icepick percentage from 20% to 15% and see how it goes, but it will probably be implemented.

Alice will assume a Doggystyle position, climaxing in this position will trigger a Corruption:15 check, leading to the BE

Nice! Will be interesting to see how good it is at 15%.

Regarding the meta, I think there is one major thing that I may have forgotten to mention in the past, and is a big deal in how the game plays out: the shop scaling the cost of green/orange potions with your max hp/lust. I feel like this is an unconventional design choice, and it results in weird/bad incentives. Basically it becomes in your best interest (gold/time optimal) to hoard all of your red/purple potions until you have 100-200 gold, stock up on all the green/orange potions you will need for the castle, and then pop all of the red/purple in your reserve.
