Yes, I always make a new folder dor new versions to avoid problems. Savefiles can be a problem too, but there are jumps for the new parts.

The last richman2 posts have some updates to make the rnd dojo teases work (and a new call I am using for a new sidestory), but I am still working on these, maybe you want to avoid spoilers before playing the 'final version'. If you are going to create something, it's not mandatory this versions to test it.


PS: I was close to make Destiny instead of Catie for the sidestory, but I already use her to replace another girl here.

I am finishing the Catie sidestory (have 6 encounters) I will use 'callraveenapickmasuspecs' in the hope you will create that one (I started using raveena voice for Catie and want to keep the same).

I have some new things planned:

- Lake encounter

- Expo Masu (just started that) That one I will leave open, so you can fit where you think is better.

- A few more rnd dojo (maybe olsen too, need to check the pictures)


I will send you the files only when I finish everything, so we don't get lost with different versions.

Hey,

Just finished some more:

3 dojo teases
1 pool tease
3 lake teases
6 teases in the Catie sidestory.

I was about to try another pool tease, but I found some more pictures from one of the models, and now I think I want to make another side story :lol:

EDIT: Just decided to continue the Catie story (with other Mistress), so will not cause conflicts with the main story.

I don't if you want to keep fitting more content outside the random ones, but I will see if I create something here.

As always, feel free to change anything to better fit the story.

I'm loving what you guys are doing with this. Technical forms was one of my favourites when it first came out. I started a big update like this but it quickly became too much and kind of fell by the wayside. I've got too many other projects on the go. So I'm really glad to see this developing and hope to be able to jump in and play it soon.

As much as I'd like to I probably won't be able to get up to speed on renpy and contribute, but I look forward to playing and see where it goes.

Oh, sorry. That script it's not finished. I sent to richman2, so he can include in the new version. I will put a warning on my post.

The Lake script it's not finished too, you need to remove both from the instalation folder to avoid that error.

Dojo and pool teases should work already, but I think you need to download the lastest files richman2 uploaded.



EDIT: richman2, I think I found a bug on servantinauguration.rpy. Looks like the 'loop' command did not worked.

Sorry for being silet, real life got me as I did forsee some time ago. Will be on holiday next week and after that back to work, so don't expect too much from my side.
Nontheless I'm really excited to look through all the stuff you did and contributed! Had a first glance and have to rethink how to shape it/ where to place it. Meanwhile did a Tournament in the Kaho-setting but this is while Anri is absent, so maybe I'll use your tournament start/ pre-start and for a third tournament after Anri is back or ... we will see, but great stuff!

I'm also eager to see the sidestory. So hang on, I'll update you all in ... well probably it will be late June.
On the silent part - yes indeed I forgot to loop the sounds there...

Hey! Before I leave for vaccation I integrated your work. Storywise it's not perfectly integrated I think, but it's a start.
I love the sidestory. As of now you find her in the meditation room and need to click on "start sidestory" which is odd but as I said it's only a start. Probably will move it to another room.

Lake encounters are also bound in but at a very late stage - i.e. after all the wodhut stuff.

The expo should happen after nanako but before ne new - not yet released but written - competition.

I have the second part of the sidestory almost done. Still need to think in a end.

I was playing some old parts, I think I found some problems (or I messed something). But, if you could check, maybe there are some small bugs:

- I think it's possible you miss the Nanako place if you go on mayuki holiday at the time. Maybe I missed something to trigger Nanako place, but I think I checked everything. (While I type this I think this was already discussed here).

- Sometimes when you go to dojo, you don't get any message and only return to previous menu. Not sure if a error or just skiped the message with no dojo teases at the moment.

- Just to make sure, check if that fix for no mayuki holiyday trigger is not back. I don't remember the path I did (starting from the begining or a shortcut), but I think one of the variables did not active to trigger the holiday.

All of that are older days, not the lastest added. Almost sure I started after day 6, and to go to Nanako place I started with the second option.



Last thing, someone said would be a good idea to create a new thread. I agree, a lot of people who played the original have no idea this is still going. Plus, you could edit the first post with the newest version.

Well, I don;t want to overduo while you are on a holiday, but I will keep updating this post as I finish more things.


- Finished the second part of the sidestory. 6 new encounters, with Destiny Moody (just to let you know the model name to not reuse in other places). I am thinking in expanding this part later, but I really want to avoid to interfere with the main story. So will probably keep inside the room you already put it.

- 1 new pool tease. The same model should get 2 more teases. 1 on the lake, but the other is a set on a room, so I let be open for you to pick the place and time to trigger, if you want.
EDIT: The lake encounter is done and add another dojo tease with her.
EDIT2: :whistle: New Model with 3 teases done

- I still have a few new ideas, but I am not sure how to use. I think is better to wait for what you will do in the future to better implement those.


Now, I am going on a break and play the new version you uploaded :lol:

Sounds great! So happy about the new path. Are you in need of any special screens/ stuff/ items for the sidestory one can make use of? Let me know caus this will need some prep from my side. I like to get deeper into this screens/buttons/items stuff although it's hard to learn.

Anyway, I just returned; gimme a few days to check everything myself and play around with it.

Regarding the issue with Masumi Holiday/ Nanako... Please tell me again what's the issue you get. If I understood you right, NANAKO-Place does not trigger? OR do you mean Holiday with Masumi is not availabe in certain combination? (The latter was the last fix I think)

As for NANAKO place doesnt trigger...

these conditions must be met after you sleep in your room to trigger Nanako (Anri visits you in the morning). As you see holiday stuff doesnt matter at all. But mind the onsenstuff to be done. Anyway, so you might mean the other thing. That holiday is not available after NanakoPlace?

I checked the holiday with Masumi thing...

$Masumi_Holiday_enable=True
$owlpattern_enable = True

both is necessary and it seems... well I can't find where Masumi_Holiday_enable is set True :) Fixed that. It's now set True after you finished the last pattern/ lesson to learn which is the Owl. So together with owlpattern_enable is set True i.e. you learned it.

To make sure you can chose the holiday also after Jumps I enabled them there. At least for Jumppoints III and IV. So if you jump there you can still/ again go for holiday. It's a bit odd but I'm okay with it.


Disclaimer: I might miss something hard cause that part of the game mechanics and dependencies is long time ago. Please clarify again if I got the problem right. Did you mean Nanako Place doesnt trigger/start or did you say Holiday with Masumi is not available?

What I think happened, I started Masumi Holiday when the Nanako place should trigger. But I maybe missed one of the requirements. I really dont remember now.

Yeah...now I finished these 3, I think I need to create at least a little story behind, or will just be 3 random encounters. Probably will put in random places, the only thing I would need, is to make sure it played in the right order (like the first to trigger need to be in the onsen, the second in lake and the last in the small room).

But I will think about the story part first. cheers

I will fix the new ones. If you can, pleasefix the others already included

Looking for some ideas, I found a tease with some 'teaching' things. When looking for pictures before, one of the models had a teacher pic set. Sooooo...I needed to create something with that, right? :lol:

The good thing is, that help me to create a story for that model (4 encounters), so I will work on that.

Oh yes didnt notice. Fixed it in the olds. Technically would have been most easy to just write in in the call thankyou thing cause in 99% of the cases edge is followed by that apart from the very beginning, but realized to late :)

Dont have anything to teach at hand besides new beats/patterns or combinations. In case you're a genious to make one or two new patterns/ beats using same sounds - feel free to try. Like I did with the "butterfly" for Shunka.

Then, if I were some steps ahead with my skill-tree-idea I would know a place/thing to be taught. How skilling works :) But although I got more coding knowledge (see the icon stuff) what still lacks is: graphical skills to implement what I want. I'm a noob with GIMP and stuff. Like: "Layers?! What are you talking about?!"

Once, in a distant future, I implemented this, I would switch from Kaho allowing you to change your training to a setting where you go to a schrine/ school/ library/ whatever place and skill yourself using rewards you got before. Also in this place for dialogues and stuff I could imagine a teacher model well. But again: too distant future.

meanwhile I polished this and that and managed to create a new neat little feature and set up a new environment:

First I implemented a little icon below the option menu where you can ask for a break and monkey... which is: a monkey hand.
It shows up when commanded monkey and the icon disappears after next monkey command. So you always have in indication which hand to use. Might not be the "wow" thing for you but it makes so many more things possible to have that action - icon interplay mechanics. Thought about using this for the cathie shoe lace/ tie up your balls thing too. Wanted to wait if tie up your balls for her is a recurring thing or not. Could imagine monkey-slaps plus tied balls is an interesting combination :)
Maybe signs/ icons in a separate "stats" screen which shows you via icons and text whether you visited the shrine this day, had your daily edge and how many ... stuff like that.

Less technically, I implemented a very first chance to leave the lake for a more distant part. Like "discover more of the world". It's dangerous though cause it's distant and late already... I plan to really make the player wait minutes (maybe even prevent skipping) and minutes to arrive at the new place so that it really feels like a decision to go there and feels like a distant place. With some help of the gods (always worship them at the shrine!) the travel will be way faster though.
Long story short you find a small japanese village at night aaaand... who knows what to experience there? Will Kaho or Anri be angry in case you sleep there? Where do you sleep? What's life there ... it's only a start but I feel like I need to make the "world" larger.

Now I'm still at playing/testing/fixing... maybe I'd upload a new version for you next weekend and would incorporate then what I got from you. Probably will send you a DM with megaupload link cause doesnt make sense to confuse ppl here even more.


BTW re: new thread. I agree we should do that but curently with avatarbr on boeard it feels again like things develop too fast to share publicly with others, esp. those who are new to the thing and/or don't know renpy at all so don't know how to fix minor things quickly. Feels like needs again, say, the summer, to get all the stuff we currently discuss settled and fixed again. Then we could "go public" again with new thread.

Dont have anything to teach at hand besides new beats/patterns or combinations. In case you're a genious to make one or two new patterns/ beats using same sounds - feel free to try. Like I did with the "butterfly" for Shunka.

Then, if I were some steps ahead with my skill-tree-idea I would know a place/thing to be taught. How skilling works :) But although I got more coding knowledge (see the icon stuff) what still lacks is: graphical skills to implement what I want. I'm a noob with GIMP and stuff. Like: "Layers?! What are you talking about?!"

Once, in a distant future, I implemented this, I would switch from Kaho allowing you to change your training to a setting where you go to a schrine/ school/ library/ whatever place and skill yourself using rewards you got before. Also in this place for dialogues and stuff I could imagine a teacher model well. But again: too distant future.
Funny, other day I try to create a 160bpm for the forms. I don't know why jumped from 140 to 180 (all jumps 20), than I think is too fast. But looks like a lot of work and I gave up.

I was thinking on a new form too, but I will see if I can think in something.

About the training, I upload a very basic one in the last file. Mostly

I already jumped to another idea, since I discover you made a code to show random pictures from a folder (already tested with other folers and worked). So, I am implementing something I was trying a long time ago. I don't think will fit in the skills. It's something to train you to better resist teases in competitions.

First I implemented a little icon below the option menu where you can ask for a break and monkey... which is: a monkey hand.
It shows up when commanded monkey and the icon disappears after next monkey command. So you always have in indication which hand to use. Might not be the "wow" thing for you but it makes so many more things possible to have that action - icon interplay mechanics. Thought about using this for the cathie shoe lace/ tie up your balls thing too. Wanted to wait if tie up your balls for her is a recurring thing or not. Could imagine monkey-slaps plus tied balls is an interesting combination :)
Maybe signs/ icons in a separate "stats" screen which shows you via icons and text whether you visited the shrine this day, had your daily edge and how many ... stuff like that.

Less technically, I implemented a very first chance to leave the lake for a more distant part. Like "discover more of the world". It's dangerous though cause it's distant and late already... I plan to really make the player wait minutes (maybe even prevent skipping) and minutes to arrive at the new place so that it really feels like a decision to go there and feels like a distant place. With some help of the gods (always worship them at the shrine!) the travel will be way faster though.
Long story short you find a small japanese village at night aaaand... who knows what to experience there? Will Kaho or Anri be angry in case you sleep there? Where do you sleep? What's life there ... it's only a start but I feel like I need to make the "world" larger.

I did not used the tie up after the Catie part. I was not sure if would be popular :lol:

BUT, I loved the village idea. Please save a little house for me. I think Destiny and Catie could live there, and then I could expand their story. With a exclusive house, I could experiment more without messing with your progression.

I am not a big fan of waiting, but I understand your idea. Could be better make something you can't go back, like "travel to the village take too long, you will not be able to go back to the temple today, and will sleep in the village"

Anyway, I feel you are working on the 'New Mistress' path with that.

Yes....maybe wait until a new big release, or at least after all is tested. I think I finally finished the hunt teases, and will get the new competition soon...still need to get the lake, but should be all done here, and did not found any new bug.

Oh, talking about bug, there is a 'call cat-dragon' somewhere with a snake lost in the middle. I need to take note the next time this happens.


To finish, a small question: why Mayuki is called Masumi in the game?

NameError: name 'rndojo_active' is not defined
Finished all the hunt quest, but did not get the lake teases. I even did the long wait in the lake, but I just get a 'nothing here yet ' message. Got a error when going to the lake once, but I can not reproduce that. Maybe where should trigger the teases?

I am not sure if you included the competition already You said "quick and dirty integration", but I am not sure if that was released.I see the file with the competition, but don't know if can trigger yet, because I could not start.

But I am sure I missed some China teases (I think I remeber playing more before), but her door is locked.

I wrote that in a hurry to not forget. Later I will see again.

Forget about something. I did not know about the loop option, so the last Catie encounter can work better with that. I uploaded a fix for that last encounter with her:

Now, something stranger happened. I am not getting the random pictures when you perform in the Shrine. Just the background stay there. The edge works still.

Before that, I just discovered about random pictures and looked at the code. I used that on a test file, changing the folder, and worked. Can not be just a coincidence, even I using another instalation (2.15), I know the save file are shared in appdata.

So, something is going there.

I am checking what could be, and maybe was a coincidence. What I did:

- run the test file on my current save, worked with both folders (my folder and the random folder)
- Loaded a older save and the shrine is ok there.

Checked the shrine_spirit variable in both, 8 in the old and 26 in the new. I changed the new for 8, but no luck.

But still, shows I visited as 19 days in a row. another save with 10 days in a row and spirit=11 worked.

EDIT4:

Did a few tests, and looks like when shrine_knowsboxedging = true give the error. I am not sure how that works, but the code is missing the '= True'.

ex:

After testing with ==True, did not work.

Maybe is a problem with hiding the shrinemapped, because I chenged shrine_knowsboxedging to False, and that fixed.

This is a great game. Thank you for sharing it!

I may have one idea for future releases: How about to sometimes change animal name audios to actual sounds made by these animals. What would you think of that? Like the gong sound is way better than saing "gong", right?
