exercise lowers sex drive?

Post by all2true »

I was not sure if I should post this in confessions
But I wanted to know the answer to this.
I am middle-aged (40)
And have started an exercise routine 20 to 30 min a day
to get back in shape

However my sex drive is well --less
I don't even want to edge

I am thinking it could be stress to
Lot of things going on in my life

But I was just wondering
if the exercise was contributing?
The reason I suspect the excercise : I started working out
and two days later sex drive low
even edging is boring. (??)

Any thoughts?

I am not a doctor but this was my experience and I did some reading on it....I am 38 and was very overweight but I had a huge sex drive. I started an exercise routine like you 20-30 minutes a day...the first week or two my sex drive also went down so I did reading on it. The best I can come up with is once you start your routine your body goes under a lot of stress and changes. Once the body gets use to that stress and changes caused by the exercise you will be back to normal, and in fact your sex drive will probably increase even more (mine has), because you will feel healthier, look better, etc.

So good luck with your exercise routine, stick with it, it is worth it :)

lost 27 pounds and counting so far :-D
un-ownded :( but looking to be owned :)

I've been working out for about an hour a day for the last 8 weeks, and haven't noticed any change in my sex drive. It could be that you need to tweak your diet a bit, and make sure to get a full night's sleep. I'm not sure how intense of a workout routine you're on, but make sure to get enough protien, try for about .8 grams of protien per pound of body weight if you're building, lower amounts wil suffice if you're just trying to tone up. Also, and I mean absolutely no offense, but age could be a factor as well. Hope this helps a little, and kudos for trying to get in shape, I recommend everyone try to get some exercise everyday, nothing feels beter than being in good shape!

Because you are now exercising which is new to you from what I've read, your body will be needing more nutrients and proteins because you're spending more energy. SO if your diet hasn't changed (improved by eating more and getting more protein to refuel your body) then in turn you may feel more fatigued then energized and have a lower sex drive.
So to summarize, the exercise MAY have lowered your sex drive but it should only be temporary because your body isn't used to it but in the long run exercise should if anything RAISE your sex drive because exercise boosts testosterone levels and metabolism. I would suggest you just continue exercising and try to get enough rests and eat well too! Before you know it you'll feel better than ever :) Goodluck.
