Preparing beatmeter with Music...

Post by zerooo »

Hi Forum

I had the idea, to make a bunch of Music-Beatmeters, and to upload them all to Milovana, so everyone could just grab them, and then create their own CH out of it... My goal would be, to have let's say 100 beatmeters at the end :-) Optimal would be cool, to also make Timelime-XML with Cut-Points, so everyone could import them easily to Resolve or Final Cut.

Can we use this thread to just put a collection of songs together you guys want to have a beatmeter for it?

Just tell me your songs you would like to have covered :-) (if there is even a need for such a beatmeter-collection) :-)

That is actually a pretty good idea I think. I would release the song and the beatmeter together but as separate files to help the matching, there is so many versions of so many songs out there.

I also thing that could become a data bank for more creators to release more song-beatmeter data so that a lot of people can just snatch them and play their favorite video without too much editing headhache.

Hi,

That would be nice. How about:
Peaches - Lovertits
David Guetta - Dirty Sexy Money (feat. Charli XCX & French Montana) (Joe Stone Remix)

Thanks!

That would also be interesting with a mix&match video player. :w00t:
One more thing to add to my low-priority-cool-to-have development TODO stack. :construction:

If your video is too fat, there's a solution!
Spoiler: show
The generated output of your video editor may be bloated, too big for not any significant benefit. One thing you can do is use HANDBRAKE with the H.264 (x264), RF18 Constant Quality and Web Optimized / Fast Start options, all other options by default. You'd be surprised how smaller the video becomes, without any impact to the quality.

Interesting for further details about the process.

I had the same idea. I intend on sharing my beatmeters, and the links to the music that they correspond to, for this exact reason.

Can I suggest a different format though? Perhaps something open-source?

I intend on sharing my beatmeters as the .JSON files output from the beatmeter generator: https://gitlab.com/SklaveDaniel/BeatmeterGenerator

This has the added advantages that anyone who wants to use/create these beatmeters can:
  • Alter the beat pattern
  • Alter the style
  • Download minimal data (just the JSON and a link to the music)
  • Not have to pay for expensive video editing products from Adobe or DaVinci
  • Host these beatmeters anywhere without fear of DMCA takedown (no music included)
  • Make these beatmeters compatible with future software from this community
  • As text-only files these can be version controlled, hosted on GitHub, forked, etc.
Obviously, whatever way you go, props to you for this effort. We need more creators like you that put in the time to make things easier for the rest of us. Thank-you.

Also, I'll admit that I don't have any experience with the Timeline.XML format and that that might also be a good way to go, for many of the same reasons. Personally, I think that the XML file format as a whole needs to die a quick and painful death, but if the industry still uses it...

As for songs, I'd love CH rounds set to the music of:
  • Work from Home, by Fifth Harmony (great for amateur rounds)
  • Candy, by Doja Cat
  • Breathe, by Alexi Murdoch (good for breath play)
And I do plan on making them, if nobody beats me to it. I'd be more than happy to collaborate, as long as I don't have to pay for or install any video editing software.
