What are poppers?

From what I have read, they are a group of drugs that are inhaled and widen blood vessels. The increased blood flow in the brain apparently gives a short rush and relax certain muscles in particular the anal sphincter so it makes anal sex easier. They are not addictive put of course can have unwanted side effects. Also in many countries they are less restricted and legal to own, but not legal to sell, at least not for consumption. So they are illegal and therefore unregulated products.

Personally, I don't see the point of using any kind of drugs for sex or even SM. If you want to have anal sex, relax, use lubricant and start slow. I had much bigger things up there than even the largest of cocks. And if something is too much for you without any drugs, why do it?

I can't endorse doing illegal drugs or misusing other things, but nitrous oxide is something that will provide short-burst effects.
Those effects are significantly different than poppers, but much, much safer.

The website Erowid.org is an excellent resource to research this.
It doesn't necessarily provide stimulation, but can fit in well with "popper" oriented videos.

Since 2008 the UK government will now only allow, isopropal nitrites which has about 10% of the strength of isobutyl nitrite banned in 2008. Isopropal is just rubbish. Used to be Amyl Nitrate, they got the name because Amyl used to be a decent heart incident drug, it would lower blood pressure and came in an ampoule that you'd "pop" to release the fumes. Amyl was banned all over the place because gay men were having fun. Since then a whole bunch of mimic formulations have cropped up, depending on your location. Folks in France can still get amyl, UK can't get isobutyl I think, and US restricts pentyl? Not sure, exactly, I'm no chemist.

The blood pressure drop is accompanied by a relaxation of smooth muscle tissue, and the standard euphoric sense that comes with less oxygen getting to the brain. Sphincters, etc. They are particularly dangerous if you are taking a medication that lowers blood pressure or thins blood, or if you are already low-o2. DO NOT USE ED MEDS WITH POPPERS IT WILL KILL YOU.

Again, the euphoric feelings and little bit of relaxation is great, but if you're in a particularly worked up state and definitely aroused, there's an enhancing effect - you just feel so fucking slutty and craven, porn-lust, less inhibited, just want to be filled out like an application and/or shove your fat throbbing dick into *anything*. Nothing more than wanting to be a leaking, drooling, cumming mess. If your timing is right, a poppers hit before tipping over the edge has a significant prolonging effect on orgasm.

You can get them online, they are sold as "nail polish remover", "tape head cleaner" or other solvent. A few retailers aren't as reputable, there's a ton of fakes and mimics out there, inventory goes bad and no one notices...I'm personally a fan of and willing to pay a little more for known quality and experience; double scorpio is my preferred (JungleJuice Platinum 2nd), Emerald is the least noxious to me. Poppers range from $7 to $30, and YMMV. Most commonly seen are Rush, Jungle Juice, etc. - the differences are relatively minor only really in formulation and potency. USPS delivers, often you'll either have to send a e-check or use paypal, since these are somewhat regulated substances. If you order from France, do small amounts otherwise customs will seize them.

There is a definite chemical smell/taste. It's unique. It's potent. Well-ventilated room, or a room you can ventilate well on short notice, is a must. It's a combination of a sweaty locker-room smell with an alcohol-solvent overtone. Remember, you're basically concentrating and inhaling a chemical solvent. You'll want lots of fresh air and some activity after a session, get the blood flowing and oxygen in. Too much, too long a session, you'll notice your fingertips and lips going purple/blue. It comes back, don't panic. Sip water in between hits, the solvent doesn't like water and neutralizes, so the aftertaste/smell will dissipate faster.

Using? I like to take a used, empty poppers bottle, snap a couple paper cotton swabs in half, and pour a bit of the fresh stuff into the old bottle and cap it, then store the "new" bottle away, using the mini-diffuser to hit from. You sniff the fumes right from the bottle. Reaction time within 5 seconds, immediate sensation is ~ 1 minute, effects up to several minutes, then back down. It's got a short life in the body, but can take your system a day or so to regenerate your blood o2 levels if you've done too much. You'll just feel tired and winded. Too big of hits too early and you'll feel like you might pass out, panic attack, or other...ride it out, it goes away. If you spill on skin, wash immediately. You definitely don't want to swallow or get the liquid in contact with a mucous membrane. Some dab a bit on a clean cotton sock, roll it up, and inhale through the mouth - this hits *fuckin hard*, it is not for beginners. I'll do that with old or going-stale poppers. They last for a while, unopened and sealed isn't a storage issue, they just start to degrade with moisture and oxygen - after you open them. You can get more life out of a bottle if you put it in the freezer, I never had issues just storing in a cool, dark location.

I've found them enjoyable and the addictiveness is through the enjoyability. A long session video with a long edging stim track - your edge of frustration files, Hedoniststim's Jen3, one of the Joan Vixen files, V91's "How long Can You Last", Noel93's stuff, and others like these are fantastic with numberonefan or supermassive's videos, or just a long PMV, or if you're going to dive in the deep end - a VersusVerse goon mix and just get fuckin stupid wasted and leaky.

They're not going to make you horny if you aren't already. They're not going to relax you if you're not in that state of mind. It's not like using a numbing gel for anal, you're not going to magically stretch open or anything - if anything at all in this vein can be compared to a little light hypnotism, I guess poppers would be it. If you *want* (and have prepared) to take a fat plug or throat-fuck yourself, poppers are going to blow right by that little bit of inhibition in your brain.

Just chiming in to say that it's specifically ISOPROPYL nitrites that are bad for your eyes. The others are fine, or at least don't show any effects without massive doses. Isopropyl will often leave spots in your vision immediately afterward.

As for what they are, they're a chemical solvent. The liquid itself is toxic and you should avoid getting it on your skin. ABSOLUTELY don't drink it. What you want is to inhale the fumes that the liquid gives off. It comes in glass bottles, and the easiest method is just to open it up, hold it near your nose and inhale. You can get a slightly better effect by using a separate container and putting cotton balls or tissue in it, then dripping some of the liquid onto the cotton. That will expose more of the liquid to air, which will help make more fumes.

As for the effects, they're quite nice. Mild euphoria and increased sensitivity to touch are my experience. You might also feel dizzy, and a bit giddy. I found it near impossible not to keep smiling when using them. The effects are nearly instantaneous and last about a minute. There's not a harsh comedown, but you may experience a headache 30 minutes to an hour afterward. Drinking water helps to avoid that.

They are not chemically addictive, but, like anything that makes you feel good, they can be psychologically addictive. If you find yourself always reaching for a bottle when you are planning to cum. You should take a break from them for a couple months.

I can't say I can speak from experience. From what I've read about poppers their contents can range from substances that induce a placebo effect to substances that can fuck your shit up. Depending on where you get them they may not be under any type of regulation. So, as with any "drug" or drug adjacent thing - use with caution.

If you're trying to enhance a sexual experience then I'd try experimenting with different types of cannabis. You'll probably get better (and likely safer) results than what you get from poppers.

It is kind of an aphrodisiac that is supposed to make you temporarily feel more horny. If I remember correctly it is a volatile substance and the fumes it produces are being inhaled. The chemical composition is pretty close to a detergent, so I wouldn't recommend using it. Few of my peers told me a story in which they overused the POPPERS through a weekend and it deteriorated their nasal mucous membrane, resulting in severe bleeding from the nose. And it took roughly a week to recover.

Definetely proceed with caution in case you decide to use it, which I again wouldn't recommend.
