That could be - I haven't been to Europe in years so I don't recall if they were different - and I assumed we were talking about the cardboard roll inside the toilet paper - not the toilet paper roll itself...

Probably about 1.5 inches here - I'm pretty sure I could get into a 2" one soft. Not that it's an issue right now when I'm locked up anyway...

That was the first one we tried - it fit well, I couldn't get out of it and I've never had any issues with it so we've stuck with it. Although until just the last couple of weeks, I had never been in it for more than a day...

Ahh, I used to have one of those. The hinge hurt me too much for long term wear though. And I ended up breaking it... too much teasing and swelling split the glued seams!
I had to lube up to get into it though - quite tight, but I could easily fit in a toilet roll! Hmmmm...
