[APP] Cock Hero Slideshow Player

Post by doremi »

In a world that requires RRR more than ever, Reduce-Reuse-Recycle, I present you:

Cock Hero Slideshow Player

Image
Thanks for the screenshot, smack.

This is a little software that plays a video of your choice, a Cock Hero production, and displays a picture slideshow over it, also of your choice. The default is 5 seconds per photo, but you can change it. Beat meters are often at the bottom, but can also be on the right side. So, the slideshow window can be resized to accommodate any production. This way, you have an unlimited amount of play time and possibilities with just a few mouse clicks.

How I came up with this crazy idea? I was browsing through some pics, love them, but it was kind of boring. Then I got the idea to play a Cock Hero production in the background at the same time. Wow!!! Fun! Fun! Fun! It makes all the difference in the world. The true meaning of "I saw the light!". :w00t: Since then, I played lots of my favorite productions this way, thus causing a HUGE backlog of newer productions that I still haven't seen yet. Another benefit is to be able to play productions where you don't like all the visual content, always a question of taste, but where music and beats are very well crafted.

Verson 1.0 of this little piece is for Windows only, and tested under Windows 7 and Windows 10. Too much stuff I need to learn in order to create the overlap window under Linux... There's no installation needed, just copy the .EXE file in any directory you want. You also need VLC installed on your computer (v3.0.8 is fine). Source code are included in the .ZIP file for those who want to bring changes to them, or to make sure I'm not doing any monkey business. You can delete them if not needed because they are not referred to in any way by the executable. The coordinates of the selection window that first appears are stored in an automatically generated .INI file stored in the same directory as the executable. Also, the file paths of both the video and pictures directories can be memorized for you so you can select your favorite files more easily the next time you play, that is, if you want them memorized. Interaction is only through the keyboard once the video has started. Here are the basic commands:
  • SPACE : Pause the video.
  • ESCAPE : Stop the video.
  • LEFT, RIGHT ARROW : Skip backward, forward 10 seconds.
  • DOWN, UP ARROW : Skip backward, forward a minute.
  • PAGE UP, DOWN : Skip backward, forward 10 minutes.
  • HOME, END : Go to the beginning, end of the video.
  • Keypad +, - : Adjust the sound level.
  • Keypad / : Toggle the status bar.

Feel free to use a MD5 tool to verify the integrity of your download, and to scan the files by an anti-virus software. If you have some issues, feel free to ask here in this thread or via a PM. If you are irritated, use some lube. Rest assured that this program does not collect your personal information, and does not communicate with the outside world (although this could be a fetish for some).

Suggested Windows Installation Guide :
  1. Make sure VLC (Win32) is installed on your computer. If not, visit: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/
  2. Create a 'bin' directory in your 'C:' drive.
  3. Copy the 'chpics.exe' file from the .ZIP file to the 'C:\bin' directory.
  4. Double-click 'C:\bin\chpics.exe' to test if it runs as is.
  5. If it doesn't run, search where the LIBVLC.DLL file is stored. Check the PATH environment variable and make sure it includes VLC and 'C:\bin'. Directories are separated by semicolon in the PATH environment variable.

How to access to the PATH environment variable under Windows 7
    Spoiler: show
Couldn't be easier, :slap: Right-click the Computer icon, then select Properties, then Advanced System Settings, then Environment Variables. Select PATH, then click Edit.
    PathEnvVar.gif

  6. If it runs, feel free to create a shortcut or to pin the icon on the taskbar.

Troubleshooting :
  • The 0xC000007B ERROR, INVALID_IMAGE_FORMAT : Perhaps that the Win64 version of VLC is installed on your computer. Uninstall it, then install the Win32 version of VLC. If it still doesn't work, maybe the tips here will help:

If your video is too fat, there's a solution!
Spoiler: show
The generated output of your video editor may be bloated, too big for not any significant benefit. One thing you can do is use HANDBRAKE with the H.264 (x264), RF18 Constant Quality and Web Optimized / Fast Start options, all other options by default. You'd be surprised how smaller the video becomes, without any impact to the quality.

That is strange, pinksly. If VLC is running, LIBVLC.DLL should be there as well. :hmmm:

I don't know how at ease you are with computer. Perhaps you can search for the file everywhere on your system (including system and hidden directories). If found, make sure that specific directory is in your PATH (System Environment settings), or even put a copy in the same directory as CHPICS.EXE.

Had to copy libvlc.dll and libvlccore.dll from C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC to direction, where chpics.exe is located.
Now GUI appears. I can set path for pictures, select a video and delay for images.... but after pressing "play" this error:
Image
(Win7 32bit)

So i copied all files into my vlc path C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC (32bit Windows) - now that chpics.exe and vlc.exe are in the same directory, it works fine for me.

pinksly, I noticed that you left CHPICS.EXE in your download area (Telechargement), and maybe it can be a reason why Win10 doesn't want to run it. The way I'm setup is that I have a 'bin' directory (bin for binaries, UNIX leftovers lol!!!) in my 'C:' drive (Windows 7). So, 'C:\BIN\CHPICS.EXE' is my actual shortcut when I run it.
hashcloud wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2020 1:50 pm So i copied all files into my vlc path C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC (32bit Windows) - now that chpics.exe and vlc.exe are in the same directory, it works fine for me.
Great that you have found a solution. Normally, I would say: DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING since it works. But I wonder if it will still work when VLC is upgraded in the future. Maybe try the 'C:\BIN\' directory tip above? Make sure both executable paths (bin and VLC) are in your PATH environment variable (System Environment settings).

Unfortunately, I do not have Win10. No plan for me to install it as I switched to UN*X because Micro$oft have insane privacy issues with all their Win10 products. I really hate the fact that they require Internet access for everything. It's not safe! I do not trust them. If someone finds a hack like hashcloud did for Windows 7, I will add a TROUBLESHOOT section in my first post to help all members.

This is a neat idea... you could have a install-less player for this if you did something like I did over at https://cyoa.club

Chrome can already play a huge variety of videos, and given a folder with pictures, you could orchestrate that slideshow.

I'm on Windows 10 Home 64 bit using VLC 3.0.8. The Cock Hero Slideshow Player launched just fine. I picked a video and a folder full of pics. Worked just fine.

Yet again, Thanks PershAli !!! :-D

(I guess I need to write a TROUBLESHOOTING guide to help those having Win10 issues. Guys, let me know what you are doing if you fix any launch issue on your side.)

Hi,
I like your idea but the programm doesn`t run for me like some others here. I use Win10 and VLC 3.0.8.

If I want to start it normal then the error with the LIBVLC.DDL comes up and when I copie all the files in the VLC installation path there is an error with 0xc000007b :\'-( :\'-(

I wonder if this is a case of programmers (having their programmer's tools) vs. non programmers. :hmmm:
I'll write a Suggested Installation Guide, and if it works, I'll include it in the first post.

Install-less, that sounds more and more appealing. But I hate Google and much as Micro$oft. :dots:

This doesn't work for me either -- the problems are caused by how you are compiling it, although it's difficult to diagnose just from the source code. I'd be inclined to just re-write it in .NET (or Javascript if you want it to be cross platform) as C++/Win32 is just making a bunch of problems for you and your users. This would also mean it would work with any video player and not just VLC.

Although I am also not sure I completely understand what it actually does. Does it just play a slideshow? In which case why not just use a slideshow player? (Ok a lot of them are dreadfully bloated) Also I am pretty sure you can do this with two copies of VLC (or any other video player that will play pictures as a slideshow).

And of course you can do it with two video players (one on top, one fullscreen) so you can re-use CH soundtracks with any video content you want.
