What happened to the streaming site?

Post by zxzxzxzxzxzx »

Last few times I checked the streaming site was down, http://cockhero.bugs3.com, and the two mirrors on the streaming thread seem to have been removed. Where have these all gone? The only place I can find them is cockhero.info but the streaming consistency isn't that great and it uses weird download sites not to mention ads all over, etc. Is that site even affiliated with this forum? Will the old streaming site be coming back?

Most of the videos still seem to be hosted on Google Drive... so I think the randomizer site I was working on for awhile (didn't finish) still works:

http://milovana-randomizer.appspot.com/

but if too many people use it then the videos start getting automatically taken down :(

Yeah as maharajah said the project had died because the videos began to be flagged in Google Drive due to changes in Terms of Service which explicitly did not allow porn anymore but before that we had to reduce concurrent viewership of videos, too much views made the video temporary unavailable. It did not help that cockhero.info took those videos without my permission and shared them there reducing further availability overall finally killing almost all videos. The original choice of Google Drive was dictated that it provided superior quality, no ads, and was super fast and this site was primarily dedicated to the Milovana community (Cock Heroes and creators alike). But the success of the site turned to be it's downfall, it was shared all around the internet, which had caused server and availability problems. Its code had been rewritten several times to be superlight. The popularity was good also because it promoted the idea of Cock Hero videos to new generation of Cock Heroes (The phenomenon wasn't as big as it is today) and have brought more people to Milovana. But what really killed it was not its popularity but Google policy. I was left with an alternative to move the videos to VideoMega (which was the dominant video host at the time), but the quality of the vids was so inferior and full of ads, that I decided it was not worth it and put the project on hold (cockhero.info was using this host at the time). But today is a new era and I'm willing to risk again and try to restore the site to it's former glory. This time around I face a different and totally opposite problem, I have to promote the viewership of the rare videos otherwise they will be removed permanently from the host and we are left with no streaming at all or with an inferior Pornhub stream (and that is not the point of this site to provide the same experience as PH, but to excel at video quality- as was always my priority). It's dependent on the host, but some videos will disappear just after a few days of no views, others will stay 30 days, some maybe 60 etc. So my effort would be in vain if the videos would continuously disappear. Which has happened already for about more than a dozen of videos (had to re upload them to hosts providing more longevity for rare videos). So I would love to focus on adding newer videos, but if the older vanish my work starts all over. So that is why I'm somewhat forced to promote the link to the site to ensure the longevity of the videos. So yes the streaming site is back at its current temporary address: http://cockhero.bizwebs.com/files/index.html#top_menu

The address will change in a few days mind you but should be seamless as I will provide a redirect. 8-)

cockherolover, here's a very simple and efficient suggestion to solve your video disapearing issue. Put a FEATURED VIDEO link in the header or footer of your web pages. Make sure your algorithm picks the video that is in the most danger of being deleted. Your visitors will understand that this specific video needs some love at that specific time without you even lifting a finger (and resurecting old threads unnecessarily hint! hint!).

The generated output of your video editor may be bloated, too big for not any significant benefit. One thing you can do is use HANDBRAKE with the H.264 (x264), RF18 Constant Quality and Web Optimized / Fast Start options, all other options by default. You'd be surprised how smaller the video becomes, without any impact to the quality.

Thank you for your suggestion and proposed solution doremi. :-)

The site already has implemented a similar solution to a featured video you mentioned. What it does is when you enter the site it serves you a CH video at random. This is not perfect but the site does not count views of any kind. In fact it does not maintain any kind of dynamic database, where those views could be stored. The reason for this is to be super light on server usage. So how do I know if a video is popular or not? Video hosts count the views. Those video viewership counts are not publicly accessible. Taking this into consideration and also that video view counting is not uniform from host to host, I'm unsure how I could be able to implement a detection system for endangered videos. Most of the video hosts have now implemented a very conservative way of counting views. A view is counted only if at least 10% or 5% of the video is played without interruption, a simple click on the video does not help. Even browsing by skipping through the video does not help. Not only is this counting system unique to every host, but also even though some hosts do specify the amount of time a video is not deleted when the viewership fades they do not abide by their own rules. Whenever they run out of storage space they purge the least popular videos en masse. I have only one video host which counts the views oldschool way, but unfortunately cannot upload new videos there because it's full. It's unfortunate because the one I mention does not reduce the quality of the video in any way or form and it plays the video in its original form.

Yeah, so maybe I'm missing some kind of obvious solution or haven't thought of something?

Well, there's simply no way for you to know which videos will be purged. Forget counts! Also, don't use a random algorithm. You need to prevent starvation (a video not being played). You need to keep a LAST PLAYED DATE stat, nothing more. Your video feature should propose the oldest played one. You may end up with fewer purges if videos are all systematically being played (compared to other users of the service). Who knows? Later on, you may discover that the biggest files are deleted first. And if so, you simply make your algorithm consider both the age and size factors.

Hoping for the best...

Interesting ... a crowdsourced anti-Google solution based on using Google's crowdsourcing algorithms to indicate to Google that the crowdsourcing is undersourced because of Google's oversourcing ... so to speak ... :)

Are you missing a cock-hero video?
Me too. Since September 1, 2020, my Mega Sharing Zones contents are being removed by Mega.
