I am trying to return to programming in GuideMe and I have but one single huge request.

Please maintain an easily downloadable working Linux distro of GuideMe!

Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please!

Please for the love of God do not make me continue to have to log into Windows 10! It is the most broken piece of garbage OS I have ever seen in my life! It makes me want to die!

Hi philo
Would it be possible in some future release of GuideMe to add a "Pause" button that could be set has a preference. This would be something similar to the "Delay" button available in debug mode. THX!

Are you volunteering?
It has been written to be as compatible with linux as much as possible and I got it working on a previous version of guide me.
I work exclusively on the MS stack so have that at home as well.
The machine I had set up as a linux box is now a media pc using windows, so all I have at the moment is a linux VM that I haven't spun up in 18 months.

For Mac or Linux I am happy to work with someone to get it working, but I don't have the time to do anything other than test it on windows myself.

I guess you are too young to remember Windows ME or 8.0? given you think windows 10 is the worst OS you have seen

Will consider it, not sure how easy it will be.

I would be more than willing to offer what knowledge I do have, but I have no background in programming or maintaining Java. I read through mantrid posts:

Running and compiling GuideMe under Linux (and MacOSX) + syntax checker
viewtopic.php?t=21520

I attempted to build it out, but no love. A few details seemed to be missing that for someone familiar with maintaining Java provably would have already known what must be obvious. But for myself I am clueless on the issue. Maybe it was for a very specific version of GuideMe that was edited to be more compatible? The main problem is that a few of the DLLs in the Java build are hard coded to the Windows system. It wont even work under Linux Wine.

EDIT:
Give me a few days. Next time I need a break from the tease I am working on, I'll give it another try again and get more details on the error code.
EDIT:

P.S.
No, I go all the way back to AT&T DOS 2.2.2. But I have been Microsoft free for several years up until I got a new laptop. Day one, dual boot into kubuntu! Turning Windows back on for the first time in years and I screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Guide Me setup help

Been reading about Guide Me and am ready to give it a try. But, I am not the most tech savy and reading the thread, it is hard to differentiate what I need as a "player" vs what you need for content creation.

What all do I need to DL to successfully launch Guide Me and play its teases? (a checklist if you will)

Appreciate the help.If it's easier to PM a reply, please feel free.
Thanks.

Download either the 32 or 64bit version in my signature.
extract it to somewhere
double click on start.bat
it should load up guideme

You can either download flash or HTML teases using the download application (similar install to guide me) or download teases from the top of this thread viewtopic.php?f=26&t=12944#p165830

Select file and load from the menu and chose a tease .xml file to open

I've been trying to put together a quick decision maker that is easily customizable, but am unable due to my lack of javascript skills (and severe lack of time or need to develop them). As I thought about it, I thought that 1) there are people on this forum who could probably write it in less time than it took me to make this post, and 2) that the finished product might be useful to others. Hence, this post asking if there's someone out there who'd like to write it. I put together a pseudo-codeish version of it to try and explain how I see it, but feel free to adapt and improve. The main thing about it is that it should be very easy to add new ladies and responses, each with their own parameters to make each feel a bit different from the other. If you have any questions, I'm also happy to respond, thanks.

IDEA FOLLOWS:

Array_ListHostesses
[DisplayName, HostessDirectory, DelayMin, DelayMax, AllowChance, RuinChance, DenyChance]

Notes: DisplayName is not unique, HostessDirectory is, this allows for directories like Marie1, Marie2, with a display name that is just Marie. Other paremeters control the minimum and maximum "Delay" between being given an opportunity, and the "AllowChance, RuinChance, DenyChance" paremeters setting the odds of each type of result (note the *Chance paremeters should = 100%). Array_ListHostesses should have a row for each sub-directory (hostess images) in the tease, and paremeters allow for the same hostess to have different settings for different photosets.

Array_Allow, Array_Ruin, Array_Deny
Each of these would hold text to go along with each result

Folder config:

TeaseRoot
-Thumbnail.jpg

-Marie1
--start.jpg
--allow [subdirectory]
--ask [subdirectory]
--deny [subdirectory]
--ruin [subdirectory]
--wait [subdirectory]

-Marie2, etc

OnStart
User selects a button for one of the names (note buttons tie to the display name, if there is more than one row associated with that name (ie Marie for Marie1 and Marie2), then the specific row should be determined randomly) - Also, a button that randomly selects from the entire array would be great.

A specific image of the hostess (start.jpg from the associated directory) would be displayed with a button asking if you're ready to start. Once pressed, the image changes to a random image from the "wait" sub-directory and a hidden random timer is initiated somewhere between DelayMin and DelayMax.

Upon timer end, the image changes to a random image from the sub-directory "ask" with a button allowing you too.

Upon button press, the tease chooses what type of result you get based on the 3 *Chance parameters for that specific hostess and uses a photo from the respective subfolder and text from the respective array.

There is a button to allow you to try again, which picks up from the "waiting" state of that same hostess.

Optionally, there could be a button that takes you back to the main page to select someone else.

Hi Guys,

Can someone please help me out? I'm trying to use the Download software. Using either 32 or 64 Bit version I cannot get the program to go past the "Loading Engine" screen when trying to download a tease.

Is there a tutorial on how to use the software? For example do you need to set the directory for downloaded Teases to something specific? Now it refers to a Y drive (that I don't have in my system).

Sorry if I'm raising an old question..again...

Any help is much appreciated!

Yes you do need to go into File / Application Settings and set where you want to save it to.
Other than that you should be able to post the URL of a standard or Flash tease in the URL box an click save.
Note it does not support EOS teases

I did an android version of of tease me a long time ago, that only works on old android phone (google changed the way the menus work) I don't know of anything that would run on a current android device.

I know it might be a bit much to ask for, and I highly appreciate the great work you've put into this already, it's really an amazing tool. But would it be possible to save session states? I don't mean the pause feature when you exit out (which I love to death), but like, actually being able to save where you are in the session. It would make playing through teases with choices/multiple endings easier, rather than having to play through entire sections again in order to get to the choices or different paths.
