I do believe that any pornographic interest CAN be detrimental to your health, and especially if you're just growing into understanding your own sexuality. I also believe, to the contrary, that we shouldn't think of porn itself as the culprit of any health detriments. It's the MISUSE of porn that is the detriment. Overuse or underuse or unhealthily freakazoid use (defined idiosyncratically, individual by individual, relative to what would have been healthy for them) ... not porn itself, but how the tool has been applied to your life. So, APPLY IT SENSIBLY! :)
There's a great deal of decent information all over the internet, about the overuse and abuse of porn. There is also a great deal of hysterical paranoia about it, too. And then, there are the puritanical idiots who cause the discussion to become confused with their own religiosity or other zealous hindrances. So, it's not easy to figure out, on your own, what would be "right" or "wrong" for you as an individual to choose to do, with your own consumption or avoidance of any type of stimulating material.Hide out, never see it, turn off your computer forever, and you'll be a freak dissociated from the modern world's capacity to reproduce manipulate and generally benefit from the distribution of data and images. To the contrary, obsess over it, and you may stop learning what it's like to interact with real humans or, less worrisome but also more insidious, you may THINK you know what real humans are like yet be entirely wrong on several random facets of human behavior. This lack of knowledge or experience can hamper your growth, lead to further dependence on debilitating crutches, and then a downward spiral can start. Or, an upward spiral might get started, similarly, in that porn usage (or usage of other "aids") can help leapfrog one or another particularly hampering early hurdle, a hurdle which probably was instigated not due to the individual's own problems, but to the problems of our rather mixed up social messages. Porn can be around to help SOLVE the problems created by anti-porn portions of our society, especially the parts of society which demand your compliance and conformity for the good of the people making the demands, regardless of whether it's good for YOU; just as much as porn might (if used in another way) CAUSE similar problems.
Well, these are obvious concepts. I've generalized a great deal. As an oldster, someone who really can't imagine "not being able" to engage in sexuality without some type of porn stimulus, I have to admit, I can't get my head wrapped around it. If you genuinely have gotten your willie to the point where it does not respond to a hot chick in the room, especially if she's willing and ready, then I suggest you do have a problem. And if what you need, as a replacement for the real hot chick in the room (presuming you're a heterosexual male, in this example only) is an operating computer with a streaming video running on it, then your problem well could be porn. How you use it, over-use it, abuse it.
Then again, it could also be, that the chick isn't very hot to you. Maybe you THINK you should be bedding her, but your dick is reasonably telling you something entirely otherwise? Just keep that alternative in mind as a potential explanation for any lack of willingness that your dick is expressing, ok? ...
So, if it's a problem, then address the problem. If it's not a problem, don't problematize it. Gee I guess that's helpful of me hunh?
