I'm coming fresh from watching the video. Content-wise and editing-wise it's great. It could've easily made it to my personal top 5, probably even top 3..

Everything below is my personal preference, so don't take it too seriously.

Don't get me wrong, I love CH videos but I don't watch them to stare at the beatmeter / tips / text. I want to quickly look at the bottom and know that "this is what I'll repeat uninterrupted for at least the next 30 seonds". There was not a single 30s without a change in this video, which is about what I consider an absolute minimum at which any kind of change should happen. The only real moments that I found acceptable were the double-times at the end of the rounds and the beat that starts at 18:57 and repeats its 8 cycles (which again - I personally consider an absolute minimum, with majority going for 16 repetitions).

If I was to give any tips for the future:
- "Bursts" - get rid of them, completely. They do nothing other than moving the eyes away from the content for what is worth some random 5 additional beats. It's not stimulating in any way, just annoying.
- Pauses that don't last at least 10s - get rid of them (can't get any worse than at 30:34..)
- Keep the beat patterns simple. They should take one short peek to understand. Some were either too long (e.g. 20:40, 22:07) or unclear (e.g. seeing 16:08 for the first time).
- "On beat" - either get rid of it completely or make it go for a LOOONG time (e.g. full minute) and keep it relatively simple. They take a lot of effort to "get right" - effectively you need to stare at the beatmeter for at least the time it takes for you to notice when the pattern finally repeats itself. Sometimes it may take multiple attempts/repeats to finally get it right - e.g. 24:54 you made it very complex while being fast, which in turn will likely (on average) take few attempts of trials and errors and errors mean frustration and generally turn you off. I'd put it this way - I know how tempting it is to match the song's beat with your beats, I make CHs myself. But it's not about it - it comes at a cost of not looking at the content. You could make the whole video "on beat". Would it make you feel great as an editor? Probably yes. Would it be a good video to actually watch? Probably not.
- There was too much reading towards the end, it's not a book Text may be fun to read, but having to read more than ~3 times (even worse - in the cum round) is a turn-off to me.

Having said that, I hope you'll make another one, just PLEASE drastically reduce all the beat changes, texsts and generally anything that causes you to stare at the bottom of the screen and not the content. Just because you overdid it with the beats and texts in this one doesn't mean other aspects of your CH were bad. It's actually the opposite - the beats matched the the music perfectly (which many don't get right), editing was great (especially when it comes to how the content ramped up in intensity and how the clips fit together) and the overall "feeling" of the video was awesome. There must've been a lot of work that went into this and it shows. Next time - keep it simplier. Not only the outcome will be better, it'll also take less time to make.

When I do these, I’m torn between simpler beats and wanting to match distinct beats in the songs. I also like my beats active, but perhaps mine get a bit overactive. I enjoy playing my own, but then I also know the songs (really, by the time I’ve managed a successful mix of the whole set, I know them too well, if anything) and the beats. With the Beatmeter Generator software they’re super easy to make, so the beats are really the smallest part of the job. Getting the video cuts and timings right is a lot more work for me.

The reading I think I agree with. I was experimenting, but it’s probably over the top, unless I was going for a more instructional type video to begin with. I’ll consider making the third one simpler on the bottom, so to speak.

Anyway, thanks a lot for taking the time to give such detailed feedback. I really appreciate it and I’ll definitely give it some consideration when I gear up to make another one. :) My first two have taken me around six months each to make (primarily due to real life constraints on my time, with family and work and all that), so I should at least have plenty of time to think about it while I go.
